About the Role The James Madison Institute seeks a full-time Communications Coordinator to manage the organization's email marketing, website, and brand publications. Candidates for the position of Communications Coordinator should be able to demonstrate an understanding of public policy from a free-market perspective, with special emphasis on the issues facing the state of Florida. Candidates must be energetic in promoting the goals and views of The James Madison Institute (JMI) with the goal of increasing JMI’s digital presence. The Communications Coordinator will report to the Communications Manager. This is an in-office role, based in Tallahassee, FL. Responsibilities Draft the weekly Madison Minute email to JMI subscribers and donorsManage JMI email blasts to members, including weekly fundraising emails and event promotionMaintain JMI.org, including proofreading, updating and publishing content Assist JMI’s Senior Vice President with drafting, editing, and publishing JMI’s bi-yearly Newsletter, The MessengerSchedule all JMI social media content Assist the Communications Manager with graphic design contentManage JMI Google Ads through the Google Ad GrantParticipate in weekly JMI staff meetings, as well as a weekly meeting with the communications and policy teams. Disseminate JMI press releases to the mediaEnsure the message of JMI is consistent, respectful and appealing to the audienceAssist the Communications Manager in any other related tasks Qualifications: 2+ years of experience working with the mediaInternship experience will be consideredStrong written and verbal communications skills Ability to prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines Strong work ethic, highly self-motivated with attention to detail and ability to be a team playerAbility to travel on occasion, up to 10% Willingness to perform all tasks with a positive attitude and contribute to the team by performing miscellaneous tasks as needed/directedFamiliarity with WordPress, HootSuite, and Canva is preferred, but not requiredBachelor’s degree required, preferably in communications, public relations, journalism or relatedCompensation:Salary is $55,00-$60,000 and dependent upon the selected applicant’s experience and qualifications, with generous incentives including bonus opportunities.
