Job Summary:

The Structured Products Analyst provides analytics, risk assessment, and valuation of complex structured transactions across power and natural gas markets. The role works collaboratively with Trading, Origination, Energy Management, Market Risk, and other commercial teams to evaluate conventional and renewable generation, energy storage, storage and pipeline assets, gas supply options, weather-triggered transactions, options, tolling resources, and other custom physical and financial deal structures. The analyst develops and leverages spreadsheet, statistical, simulation-based, closed-form, and pro forma models; performs scenario and stochastic analysis to determine ranges of potential financial outcomes; and communicates complex concepts and results to commercial teams and management. This role provides a path toward future commercial opportunities within Trading, Origination, or other areas of the business.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Research, analyze, price, and value opportunities identified by Trading, Origination, Energy Management, and other commercial groups.
  • Analyze longer-term and complex transactions, including conventional and renewable generation, energy storage, storage and pipeline assets, gas supply options, weather-triggered deals, complex gas delivery options, call and put options, heat rate call options, tolling resources, and custom physical and financial deal structures.
  • Use spreadsheets, statistical software, simulation-based models, closed-form models, and pro forma models to develop ranges of values, risks, and potential financial outcomes for proposed transactions.
  • Develop and maintain structured-products valuation models, including Monte Carlo simulations, portfolio modeling, scenario analysis, optimization, and stochastic modeling, given different levels of data availability and quality.
  • Work collaboratively with Trading and Origination to identify alternatives, additions, or improvements to proposed deal structures.
  • Develop new deal structures by creating valuation techniques and hedging strategies.
  • Build clear, compelling cases for proposed deals and communicate assumptions, risks, and results to commercial teams and management; support additional approval when required.
  • Provide analytical support to customers of advisory services, other Tenaska business units, and a variety of ad hoc requests.
  • Manage multiple deal valuations and analytical requests simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while balancing competing priorities.
  • Gain commercial acumen in power and natural gas markets and become a trusted analytical resource for Trading, Origination, Energy Management, and other commercial teams.
  • Maintain dependable, reliable, and predictable attendance.
