High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program with RCMA or CMA Credentials in State of Texas. Valid BLS/CPR.

General Description:

Provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a provider. Assists the patients during their visit to the clinic and obtains all clinical information that provider requires to complete visit.

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
2. Provides care appropriate to condition and age of patient, including pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.
3. Provides patient care that meets the psychosocial and physical needs of the patient within the MA’s scope of practice
4. Assists with patient admissions, discharge and transfers
5. Transports patients to various departments for ordered tests/procedures
6. Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, blood pressure and intake-output.
7. Reports patient complaint of pain to supervising physician
8. Observes patient's mental and physical conditions, reports any changes to supervising physician
9. Knowledgeable of sterile techniques and infection control procedures
10. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
11. Participates in patient care conferences
12. Communicates in a clear and concise manner to medical staff.
13. Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
14. Documentation meets current standards and policies
15. Attends in-service education programs, as assigned, to learn new treatments, procedures, developmental skills etc.
16. Treat patient and families with respect and dignity
17. Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
18. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly
19. All other duties as assigned
