Sampson Regional Medical Center is hiring a Cook to join our Food & Nutrition team!

Description:

The Cook is responsible for preparing and producing a variety of food items for both hospital patients and cafeteria customers throughout the health system. This position plays an important role in ensuring meals are prepared safely, accurately, and according to established recipes and quality standards. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining a positive attitude and a strong commitment to customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook food items according to standardized recipes, ensuring proper portion sizes, quality, and presentation
• Follow proper food storage, preparation, and handling procedures to prevent cross-contamination and maintain food safety
• Communicate with tray line and cafeteria staff regarding menu updates, portion sizes, and food availability
• Monitor food supplies and communicate when items need to be replenished
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area
• Adhere to established food safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, as well as applicable local, state, and federal health and safety requirements
• Provide friendly, efficient, and courteous service to patients, customers, and coworkers
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Prior cooking experience in a food service environment, preferred
• ServSafe Certification, preferred
• Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation and handling technique
• General knowledge of safety and sanitation rules and practices
• Must be dependable, flexible and committed to providing excellent customer service

Hours:

This is a full-time position working 8-to-12-hour shifts. Days and hours will vary depending on the needs of the department.
