Director of the Hope & Healing Family Life Ministries

  • Not-remote
  • Full-time
  • $60K - $70K/yr
  • Salary
  • Corning, NY
Job Summary

Family Life is seeking a Director of Hope and Healing who is, above all, called to biblical counseling — someone with a genuine passion for helping people find emotional, spiritual, and mental healing through a Christ-centered approach, and who desires to be a tool God uses in the lives of those who entrust us with their struggles.

Second, the Director must bring excellent administrative and organizational leadership skills. The Hope and Healing Department is fast-moving and fast-growing, and this leader is responsible for overseeing its administration, programs, and strategic plan — positioning the department for financial sustainability and maximum impact. The Director will lead the department's team of counselors by example, modeling both counseling excellence and sound administrative practice, while also carrying a caseload of one-on-one counseling to be scheduled at their discretion.

Building relationships with churches, civic leaders, and other community and nonprofit partners is part of the role, but it is a supporting function of the mission — not the primary qualification. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of taking an organization, or a department within a larger organization, to an advanced level, while remaining rooted first in a calling to biblical counseling.

The position reports directly to the CEO/General Manager as a member of the management team. The Hope and Healing Director must be a follower of Jesus Christ and will represent Family Life to the community, cultivating a reputation of excellence and integrity.

Responsibilities

Biblical Counseling & Spiritual Leadership

  • Serve as a counselor, providing one-on-one biblical counseling to clients at the Director's discretion, and model Godly character, humility, and servanthood in all leadership functions.

  • Lead the department's counseling team by example — in counseling practice, spiritual maturity, and daily conduct — not solely through administrative direction.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in biblical and clinical counseling.

Organizational & Administrative Leadership

  • Develop the strategic goals and objectives of the Hope and Healing Department and provide direction and leadership in accordance with Family Life's vision, mission, and annual goals.

  • Develop a long-term strategy and the systems necessary to achieve annual departmental goals, and assure policies, procedures, and practices are documented, implemented, and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • In conjunction with the CEO, direct the recruitment, employment, coaching, development, and retention of department personnel and volunteers, with succession planning in mind.

  • Lead team meetings, attend weekly management team meetings, provide bi-monthly reports to the board of directors, and attend quarterly management retreats.

  • Oversee data collection, evaluations, and feedback surveys, compiling findings for annual ministry reports.

Fiscal Management

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the financial resource “CASHFLOW” necessary to accomplish the department's mission, and work with the Business Manager and CEO to ensure the department's financial integrity.

  • Maintain current community and church partnerships and identify opportunities for additional strategic financial partners, in support of the department's counseling mission.

  • Research and develop grant income resources in partnership with the Development Department, and ensure key communications (website, newsletter, information packets) are accurate, informative, and timely.

Community & Partner Relationships

  • Represent the Hope and Healing Department to the community with integrity and excellence, and develop relationships with churches, civic leaders, and peer organizations in support of the department's counseling mission — recognizing this as a supporting function rather than the primary focus of the role.

Qualifications
  • A genuine, demonstrated passion for biblical counseling and a calling to help others find emotional, spiritual, and mental healing through a Christ-centered approach.

  • Must maintain a positive Christian testimony through a vibrant, active, and strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • 5+ years of experience in one-on-one counseling and organizational leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team by example, manage multiple priorities, and take an organization or department to an advanced level.

  • Strong listening, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate to large groups on behalf of Family Life.

Requirements
  • A Master's degree in one of the following: LCSW-R or LCSW; AND/OR a licensed credential qualifying for Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement in New York and Pennsylvania; AND/OR a licensed credential qualifying for third-party reimbursement including Medicare/Medicaid in New York and Pennsylvania; AND/OR a Clinical Psychologist credential (PhD).
Nice to Have
  • Experience writing grant applications, fundraising, and/or scholarship support.
