Job Description

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil, site development, utility, roadway, grading, excavation, and infrastructure projects.
• Review project plans, specifications, bid documents, and contract requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Develop bid packages and assist with proposal preparation and submission.
• Coordinate with project managers, operations teams, and executive leadership during the preconstruction process.
• Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving strategies.
• Maintain and update estimating databases, historical costing information, and vendor relationships.
• Participate in bid reviews, scope meetings, and project handoff meetings following award.
• Monitor market pricing trends and assist in developing competitive bidding strategies.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Civil Estimator should have:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• 3+ years of estimating experience within heavy civil construction, sitework, utility, roadway, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs and cost analysis for civil construction projects.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, B2W Estimate, AGTEK, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of construction means and methods, productivity rates, and project costing.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of New Jersey public bidding processes is highly desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
