Description
The Senior Economic Analyst is responsible for delivering forward-looking economic intelligence that drives strategy and decision-making across Burns & McDonnell. Sitting within the Market Insights team in Corporate Marketing, this role connects global, regional, and local market conditions and sector-specific trends to the decisions made by business development and project management, marketing, finance, procurement, and estimating teams. This position monitors and analyzes economic signals at every level — from global macroeconomic forces and geopolitical developments to regional market dynamics and local project demand — translating them into actionable, micro-level intelligence that helps the firm identify growth opportunities, manage market risk, and stay ahead of shifts in demand before they arrive. The Senior Economic Analyst works closely with growth strategy functions, specifically Go-to-Market teams and business development, and
partners with finance, procurement, estimating and business line leadership — delivering the economic vision and market intelligence that give each team a sharper, more forward-looking foundation for their decisions and strategies.
Develop and maintain forward-looking economic outlooks across Burns & McDonnell's core markets, including energy, infrastructure, and buildings sectors.
Build rolling near-term and multi-year market forecasts that feed business line planning cycles, strategic resource allocation and annual business planning.
Monitor economic indicators at the global, regional, and local level — including infrastructure investment trends, federal and state spending signals, international market developments, and policy changes — that affect the firm's pipeline and competitive positioning.
Track commodity markets across the full range of materials and inputs relevant to construction and engineering, and translate price movements and supply chain conditions into bid, procurement, and project risk inputs.
Monitor geopolitical developments and global supply chain conditions that affect material availability, lead times, and cost; provide ongoing intelligence to procurement and estimating teams.
Serve as an economic resource to the estimating group, grounding cost assumptions in current and forward-looking commodity and market pricing data.
Partner with Go-to-Market strategy and BD leadership to align pursuit priorities and marketing investments with projected sector demand and economic growth areas.

Leverage AI tools and market data platforms strategically, applying economic judgment to identify where those tools add value and where human analysis must lead. Present economic findings to senior leadership and cross-functional teams in clear, actionable terms that inform and drive decisions.
Produce accessible market outlooks, briefings, and intelligence summaries that inform strategy at every level of the firm.
All other duties as assigned.
