Job Summary
St. Mary, Chelsea is a mid-sized parish in the Diocese of Lansing serving 1200 families and is seeking to fill the position of Music Minister. This is a full-time position.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with the Pastoral Team, support staff, choir members, cantors and instrumentalists. This person will be responsible for developing, planning & directing all liturgical music in the parish. We desire a mix of traditional and contemporary worship music. We have an existing group of 8 cantors, a choir and several specialty ensembles.
We require an understanding of liturgy, proficiency at the organ and/or grand piano, experience with directing a SATB choir and the ability to cantor. Responsibilities include 3 weekend Masses, seasonal Masses, 1 week night rehearsal, seasonal rehearsals (Children’s Choir) availability for weddings and funerals at an additional stipend. We will require office hours 1 day a week for administrative/preparation purposes.
