Walmart is an authorized Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge industry partner, supporting transitioning Service members as they prepare to move into the civilian workforce. Through SkillBridge, eligible Service members can complete a hands-on fellowship during their final 180 days of service, gaining training, development, and real-world experience aligned to in-demand roles across Walmart’s business. Who can apply Active-Duty Service members of any rank, enlisted or officer, may apply for entry- to mid-level opportunities. Senior-level consideration may be available based on a candidate’s applicable industry experience and transferable military background. Participation requires command approval and adherence to all DoD SkillBridge guidelines. Compensation and Benefits Participants are not eligible for compensation from Walmart while on active duty and will continue to receive military pay, allowances, and benefits from the U.S. Government during the SkillBridge period. How the process works Qualified candidates may be interviewed and matched to specific fellowship opportunities and locations based on business requirements. Selected Service members gain exposure to Walmart’s operating environment, tools, and processes through industry-aligned training and on-the-job learning during the final months of active-duty service. This experience is designed to support the transition from military service to civilian employment. Note: The objective of the program is to provide quality skill development to all participants. While job opportunities may be available after program completion, an offer of full-time employment is not guaranteed. 12-Week Program Summary: Candidates complete a 12-week, site-based fellowship focused on preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, safety routines, maintenance documentation, work order execution, and equipment reliability. Position Summary: Walmart is actively recruiting SkillBridge fellows for the Preventative Maintenance Technician opportunity. Participants gain hands-on field experience, mentorship, and exposure to preventative maintenance practices that support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Job Duties: • Learn how preventative maintenance teams inspect equipment, complete scheduled maintenance, and document work • Gain exposure to preventive maintenance routines, inspection practices, shop tools, diagnostic equipment, fluids, filters, parts processes, safety standards, and maintenance documentation • Assist with equipment inspections, preventative maintenance activities, work order reviews, and safety routines • Learn to identify issues, support equipment reliability, and help reduce downtime under supervision • Work alongside experienced technicians, maintenance leaders, subject matter experts, and mentors through guided observation and feedback sessions Minimum Qualifications: Active-Duty Service member eligible for DoD SkillBridge; 18 years or older; High School Diploma or equivalent; ability to work safely in a maintenance or shop environment; ability to complete required safety and technical training; ability to meet physical requirements associated with preventative maintenance work, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and using tools or equipment as assigned.
