Process SpecialistSEFCOR
Title Process Specialist
Department Process Operations
Reports to Process Manager
Location Griffin, Georgia
The Process Specialist improves how work gets done throughout SEFCOR. Reporting to the Process Manager, this role combines process improvement, software development, systems integration, and hands-on machine monitoring. Projects may involve a better production workflow, an internal application, an ERP integration, or a sensor-based tool that makes equipment activity visible.
Working with the Process Manager, the Specialist translates operational priorities into practical improvements and takes ownership of assigned projects from investigation through implementation and support. We value initiative in identifying new opportunities. The role works closely with operators, supervisors, engineering, maintenance, IT, and administrative teams to build solutions people can use and maintain.
The role combines computer-based work with regular time on the production floor to observe processes, test solutions, and support monitoring installations. Work around machinery follows site safety procedures and required protective-equipment practices, with installation activities coordinated with the appropriate personnel.
Observe production and business processes, gather requirements, and identify opportunities to reduce manual work, errors, delays, and unnecessary steps. Define the problem and how improvement will be measured.
Design, build, test, and maintain applications and automation for production tracking, material movement, scheduling, quoting, and other operational needs. Extend and integrate Infor CloudSuite Industrial (SyteLine) and internal systems such as ShopFlow.
Support improvements and integrations involving Microsoft 365, engineering and CAD workflows, and web applications as projects require. Coordinate with department users and IT.
Develop monitoring for CNC machines and other production equipment using available machine interfaces, sensors, and edge computers. Connect equipment data to applications, dashboards, and physical status indicators.
Evaluate and prototype monitoring hardware, including sensors, interface boards, enclosures, and mounting arrangements. Support installation and commissioning with maintenance, IT, and vendors, coordinating electrical and machine connections with qualified personnel.
Build data collection, database queries, and reporting that help teams understand machine state, utilization, downtime, and process performance. Validate readings against actual operation and investigate missing or misleading data.
Pilot improvements with users, troubleshoot problems across software and equipment interfaces, and support reliable rollout. Document code, configurations, installations, and operating procedures; train users and maintain solutions after launch.
Manage assigned projects with initiative, communicate progress and tradeoffs, and coordinate priorities with the Process Manager. Use version control, testing, and AI-assisted tools thoughtfully, taking responsibility for the quality of the finished work.
Minimum requirements
Demonstrated ability to investigate an operational problem, develop a practical solution, and carry work through to completion with limited oversight.
Working ability to write, troubleshoot, and maintain software or scripts, along with a sound understanding of relational data and SQL queries. Ability to learn unfamiliar tools as projects require.
Hands-on technical aptitude and willingness to work with monitoring devices, equipment interfaces, and production-floor systems. Ability to troubleshoot methodically and verify that a solution works in actual use.
Clear, respectful communication with technical and nontechnical colleagues. Ability to listen to users, explain choices, document work, and help others adopt new tools.
Good judgment about reliability, data accuracy, and safe work around production equipment. Ability to work independently while coordinating changes that affect other teams.
Preferred qualifications
Experience in manufacturing, process improvement, industrial automation, or supporting production operations.
Experience with CNC monitoring, sensors, instrumentation, industrial networking, or devices such as Raspberry Pi. Familiarity with machine interfaces such as MTConnect is useful.
Experience with Infor SyteLine or another ERP, manufacturing execution systems, APIs, or business-system integrations.
Experience automating Microsoft 365 workflows or integrating engineering tools such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor with other systems.
Familiarity with tools used in our projects, such as Python, Go, Flutter, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Git, Docker, and AI-assisted development tools.
An associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Candidates may bring deeper experience in software, manufacturing systems, or automation. We value the ability to learn across disciplines and deliver useful results; experience with every listed technology is not expected.
