Job Summary

About the Role We are seeking a part-time Music Minister to lead and oversee our music ministry, helping our congregation worship God through joyful, theologically rich, Christ-centered singing. The Music Minister works closely with the Lead Pastor as a ministry team, helping disciple the church through our weekly gatherings. This role can also be a training ground for someone who wants it. If you sense a call to ministry and want to grow deeper in it, the Lead Pastor would love to invest in you through sermon reviews, reading together, conferences, and hands-on involvement in the broader work of pastoral ministry. If your calling is to music ministry specifically, that is just as welcome. We would be glad to have a faithful worship leader who loves the local church, wherever you are in your journey. Responsibilities • Lead congregational singing for Sunday morning and Wednesday night services• Select a blend of historic hymns and newer songs that are biblically faithful and theologically rich• Plan music with the pastor to complement the preaching and overall flow of each service• Lead weekly rehearsals and schedule and coordinate the music team and volunteers• Disciple and encourage music team members, helping them grow spiritually and musically• Foster a culture where the congregation actively sings rather than simply watching a worship team• Manage worship resources such as song slides and congregational playlists• Coordinate occasional special music and services• Attend monthly staff meetings• Opportunity for ongoing discipleship and ministry training with the Lead Pastor• Schedule About 15 hours per week, with flexibility. Includes Sunday morning and Wednesday night services, a weekly rehearsal, planning and preparation, and volunteer coordination. Limited paid Sundays off each year. Qualifications • Musically capable and comfortable leading congregational singing• Spiritually mature, theologically grounded, and in agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000• Humble, dependable, and shepherd-hearted toward volunteers• Organized, with basic comfort using church scheduling software and presentation tools• A teachable spirit; openness to mentoring and broader ministry training is welcome but not required• Willing to become a member of Comer Baptist Church About Our Church Comer Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist congregation in the small town of Comer, Georgia, serving our community since 1892. We are entering a new season under the leadership of a new pastor, with a renewed commitment to Christ-centered expository preaching, congregational worship, and making disciples who make disciples. Our desire is to cultivate a healthy church culture that brings glory to God. With approximately 70 people gathering on a typical Sunday, we are a small congregation that values faithfulness over flash. We are grateful for our history, excited about what God is doing among us, and eager to see how He will use us in the years ahead.
