VP SUPPLY CHAIN AND PROCUREMENTFormulated Solutions
Job Summary
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The VP, Supply Chain and Procurement, is a member of the Executive Leadership Team with end-to-end accountability for supply chain and procurement across all Formulated Solutions sites. The role connects customer demand, sourcing, planning, inventory, manufacturing readiness, and order fulfillment to deliver reliable service, profitable growth, and faster conversion of inventory into cash.
This executive is a transformation leader who has built world-class teams, scalable processes, and management systems in complex, regulated manufacturing. The VP, Supply Chain and Procurement establishes a common operating model across sites, develops leaders, and uses accurate dashboards and a disciplined review cadence to drive measurable improvements in service, cost, margin, working capital, and cash. In a private equity-backed environment, the VP, Supply Chain and Procurement converts the value creation plan into owned initiatives, transparent forecasts, timely corrective action, and results that can be demonstrated to the CEO, CFO, and Board.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise leadership and transformation
Own the enterprise strategy and operating model for procurement and strategic sourcing, demand and supply planning, inventory, warehousing, distribution, and order management; establish clear enterprise standards and site-level decision rights.
Assess organization, capabilities, systems, and process gaps; build and develop strong leaders and teams across all three functions, with succession plans, clear roles, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Lead multi-site transformation with sequenced priorities, business cases, milestones, accountable owners, change management, and benefits validated with Finance; standardize where valuable while meeting site and customer needs.
Partner with Operations, Quality, Finance, Commercial, R&D, Engineering, and site leaders to make cross-functional tradeoffs and support growth, new product introductions, technical transfers, acquisitions, and integrations.
Planning, fulfillment, and customer service
Lead sales, inventory, and operations planning (SIOP) and align demand, manufacturing capacity, materials, inventory, launch plans, and financial forecasts; resolve constraints and escalate decisions promptly.
Own material availability, inventory accuracy and health, warehouse and distribution performance, and order fulfillment; partner with Operations to improve schedule adherence, lead times, throughput, and on-time in-full (OTIF) delivery.
Improve the order-to-cash handoff with Finance and Commercial by eliminating preventable shipment and invoicing delays, while clarifying ownership of collections and customer terms.
Procurement, supplier performance, and supply assurance
Own category and sourcing strategies for direct materials, packaging, indirect goods and services, and capital purchases; use spend analytics, total cost of ownership, should-cost analysis, and competitive negotiations to improve value.
Lead supplier selection, contracting, and relationship management; set expectations for quality, cost, delivery, innovation, responsiveness, regulatory compliance, and financial stability.
Mitigate supply risks through supplier segmentation, contingency plans, dual sourcing where appropriate, and monitoring of capacity, geopolitical exposure, and supplier financial health.
Partner with Quality and Regulatory on supplier qualification, quality agreements, specifications, change control, and cGMP requirements; address commercial supplier issues without compromising product quality or continuity of supply.
Build procurement controls and systems for spend visibility, delegated authority, supplier data, contract use, purchase orders, invoice matching, and applicable international trade requirements.
Financial performance and private equity value creation
Own supply chain and procurement commitments for cost, cash, inventory, service, and productivity; manage functional operating budgets and recommend capital investments based on capacity, risk, and return.
Improve inventory turns and reduce excess, aged, and obsolete stock; balance purchase price, lead times, order quantities, payment terms, consignment, and service risk to release working capital sustainably.
Deliver savings and margin improvement through sourcing, supplier terms, freight, process productivity, and waste reduction; partner with Finance to validate realized benefits in the P&L and cash flow and distinguish them from cost avoidance.
Manage cash constraints with Finance using fact-based supplier prioritization and negotiations that respect contractual obligations, supply continuity, quality, and long-term supplier relationships.
Build a credible annual plan and rolling forecast for the function; communicate performance, risks, corrective actions, and progress against the value creation plan to executive leadership and, as needed, the Board.
Dashboards, management cadence, and compliance
Create trusted dashboards with defined data sources, owners, baselines, targets, trends, and review cadence at enterprise and site levels; turn variances into named actions and verify sustained results.
Track a balanced scorecard including OTIF and customer escalations; forecast accuracy and schedule adherence; inventory turns, days on hand, and aged inventory; supplier delivery and quality; savings realized and purchase-price variance; working capital and cash conversion.
Apply Lean and continuous improvement methods to eliminate rework, shortages, delays, and handoff failures; sponsor cross-functional projects with measurable outcomes.
Ensure audit-ready processes, ethical sourcing, safety, and compliance with applicable FDA, cGMP, ISO, contractual, import/export, and company requirements in partnership with the responsible experts.
