Podcast Host - The FlyoverThe Flyover
We're hiring our next Podcast Host — and this is a role built to grow. You'll start as a key part of our bench: learning our voice, building your on-camera reps, and getting fully ready to step into hosting and producing duties as we need you — including filling in on our flagship daily show. The more ready you are, the faster that grows. We're not looking for someone to fill a seat. We're looking for someone we invest in, because we're investing in this whole operation for the long haul.
This role supports multiple podcast products across The Flyover's growing media network.
The Flyover Podcast
Our flagship daily news show transforms The Flyover newsletter into a conversational audio and video experience. Episodes are recorded in the evening and published by 6:00 a.m. EST each morning.
Flyover Focus
Long-form, evergreen episodes that explore a single topic in greater depth through research, explanation, and storytelling. These projects are produced on a flexible schedule.
Flyover Destinations
On-location travel features highlighting destinations across the country. Hosts will periodically travel to filming locations to capture interviews, attractions, and local experiences for these episodes.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who enjoys connecting with an audience, thrives in a fast-paced environment, willing and able to take on new projects and is excited to help grow The Flyover's expanding podcast portfolio.
Important: The daily podcast episodes will be produced and recorded in the evenings. Much of the content will be completed late afternoon, early evening and the Podcast episodes are ready to be published early the next morning at 6 am EST.
Editorial Adaptation: You’ll transform the written content into a natural, conversational podcast script. This includes adapting written articles into a spoken format that sounds engaging and authentic, ensuring each episode flows smoothly and feels like a guided conversation rather than a simple reading of the newsletter.
Recording: You’ll record audio and video episodes of The Flyover Podcast in a controlled, professional-looking environment. The Flyover will provide the recording equipment and set design elements needed for a consistent on-camera experience. You will be responsible for maintaining a quiet, distraction-free space in your home or office that is conducive to recording high-quality podcast episodes each evening.
Basic A/V Production: While the host is not responsible for editing the podcast, they play an important role in the production process. You'll be responsible for capturing high-quality audio and video recordings, ensuring all files are properly delivered to our post-production team each evening through our Riverside audio platform.
News Judgement: We report on current events, and the host needs to be up-to-speed on the news cycle. They also need to be fluent in all major news categories.
Brand Awareness: The Flyover is geared for an audience that detests the cultural slant found in elitist news outlets; you’ll need to become a master of our tone and audience sensitivities.
Voice and Appearance. It’s important that the host is easily understood and has a professional on-camera presence. Proper pronunciation is essential.
Evening Availability: The flagship daily podcast is recorded during the evening hours and occasionally later when major breaking news requires it. Candidates should be comfortable working outside of traditional business hours.
Weekend Availability: Weekend availability is required. Hosts participate in weekend podcast production and may occasionally be scheduled for weekend recordings or travel depending on editorial needs and production schedules.
Travel: While the majority of this role is performed remotely from your home recording studio, occasional travel is required for Flyover Destinations. The host will be expected to travel to filming locations as needed to capture on-location content for destination-focused episodes.
