Job Summary
The California Policy Center (CPC) is seeking an experienced social media and office manager for its Bakersfield, CA office. The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee and execute the organization’s social media strategy across multiple platforms. This role is responsible for managing CPC’s daily social media presence, amplifying the work of CPC staff, and helping grow CPC’s digital reach and engagement. This position reports to the Vice President of Communications and requires someone who can stay on top of fast-moving policy conversations and translate public policy issues into compelling digital content. In addition, this role will support the Central Valley Director in the day-to-day operations of CPC’s Liberty Center. Responsibilities include supporting Liberty Center tenants, assisting with event planning and logistics, and maintaining the facility and shared spaces to ensure the Center operates smoothly.Position SummaryThe Coalitions amp; Comms Associate will:Social Media Management amp; Audience Growth (Primary Focus) (50%)Manage CPC’s social media presence across multiple platforms, including X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and InstagramPublish daily posts across multiple accounts, ensuring consistent messaging and brand voiceDevelop and maintain a social media content calendar and posting planCreate basic graphics, short videos, and audio clips to support social media postsIdentify and elevate stories that advance CPC’s policy and legal prioritiesSupport rapid-response communications and messaging as neededLiberty Center Manager (35%)Support the Liberty Center as a professional, active hub for events, meetings, and collaborationServe as primary relationship manager for tenants and partner organizationsCoordinate events, briefings, and gatherings that strengthen CPC’s brand and networkEnsure the Center reflects CPC’s professionalism, energy, and missionHelp develop the Liberty Center into a replicable model for other regionsRegional Relationship Building amp; External Presence (15%)Build strong relationships with local elected officials, candidates, donors, and civic leadersRepresent CPC at regional events and within the Bakersfield communityAct as a connector between CPC leadership and regional partnersIdentify opportunities to expand CPC’s reach and influenceDevelop relationships with key Central Valley mediaPerformance OutcomesSuccess in this role will be measured by:Consistent growth and activity across CPC social media platforms, with significant growth in engagementA well-run, active Liberty Center with strong partner relationshipsStrong integration between CPC communications and regional activityIdeal CandidateThe ideal candidate is:A strong writer with sharp instinctsSocial media fluent and comfortable building an audienceHighly organized and reliableComfortable introducing themselves to anyone — from reporters to donors to elected officialsEnergized by fast-moving, entrepreneurial environmentsDeeply aligned with CPC’s mission and vision for CaliforniaCompensationSalary range $60,000 – $80,000, commensurate with experience.
