Position Title: Surgery Orderly / Transporter Position Code: Transport-6102

Department: Surgical Services Safety Sensitive: YES

Reports to: Surgery Director Exempt Status: NO

Position Purpose:

All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI’s vision of providing the region’s best clinical care and patient service through an environment that fosters respect for others and pride in performance.

This position is responsible for safely transporting patients via gurney or wheel chair to and from surgery and assists in transferring patients between the bed, gurney and/or wheel chair.

Key Responsibilities [List of material responsibilities and essentials duties which must be completed in achieving the objectives of the position]

Transport patients in house to and from Surgical Services.

Order and restock supplies.

· Responds to requests for transport in a pleasant, timely manner.

· Maintains continuous availability via wireless communication device.

· Assume responsibility and duties of the department housekeeper as needed.

· Transport specimens and equipment and supplies needed.

Qualifications [Statements regarding minimum educational and experience qualifications, required proficiencies with specialized knowledge, computer proficiencies, military service, required certifications, etc.]

Certification: BLS through the American Heart Association

Preferences [Preferred attributes for the position which are not absolutely required in the minimum qualifications (i.e., multi-lingual, master’s degree)]

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Work Requirements [Optional section: work requirements for physical or other important issues which relate to the job]

· Able to lift 50 to 75 pounds and stand & walk for extended periods of time.

· Able to assist with the movement of patients weighing up to 300 pounds.
