Job Summary

Behavior Analyst Trainee (BAT)

Become a part of the BloomKidz mission to improve the quality-of-life and wellness trajectory for children with different abilities through an interdisciplinary, team-based approach. We exist to make families work better, so we're building the most clinically rigorous pediatric autism program in the country— and a residency that develops the BCBAs strong enough to deliver it.

We hold ourselves to a high bar: in assessments, in programming, in ethics, in outcomes. We hold our trainees to the same bar. We invest in you because our clients need you to become an exceptional BCBA. The compensation, the protected study time, the residency-style ladder, the daily collaboration across disciplines exists at BloomKidz for one reason: when you sit for your exam, you are already doing the job at a level most clinicians take years to reach.

If that's the BCBA you want to become, this is the place to train.

Why BloomKidz:

Most fieldwork placements ask you to fit your training into a job. We built ours the other way around: a structured clinical residency that produces strong, confident BCBAs.

Whether you are an ASU MS ABA student starting your 2,000 hours, a virtual student looking for an in-person practicum site in the Valley, or a recent graduate preparing for your exam, the path through BloomKidz is the same: a clear ladder, real responsibility, and supervision that takes your development seriously.

Responsibilities of Behavior Analyst Trainee (BAT):

We provide:

  • A generous CEU budget every year

  • All state-required trainings (PROUD, Article 9, CPR) built into your schedule

  • Management and leadership training as you advance toward Fellow

  • Two paid in-service days per year focused on clinical growth and team learning

  • Ongoing supervision designed around your stage in the ladder, not a one-size-fits-all model

  • Monthly resident meetings with ongoing training provided

  • Competitive compensation

  • Consistent hours

  • Fully covered medical, dental, and vision insurance for full-time employees

  • PTO, sick time, and paid holidays

  • 401(k) + match

  • Monthly wellness stipend

  • Paid unrestricted hours scheduled built into your week — and active supervision support hitting your fieldwork minimums every month

  • Paid test prep

  • Guaranteed, protected study time as your exam approaches

  • Access to federal student loan forgiveness programs

  • Daily access to OT, PT, SLP, Feeding, and Mental Health colleagues

Qualifications:

  • ACTIVELY ENROLLED IN A MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAM IN APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS OR A RELATED FIELD ON AN APPROVED BCBA COURSE SEQUENCE (required for BAT 1; BAT 2 and BAT 3 must maintain active enrollment through the program, or have recently graduated and be preparing to sit for the BCBA exam)

  • Must have a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification, or be willing to complete our 40-hour training, comps, and the RBT exam

  • Bachelor's degree completed (a relevant degree and coursework is preferred)

  • Desire to work with children; experience with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Commitment to maintain RBT certification and to accrue supervised fieldwork hours toward BCBA certification

  • Availability to work 40 hours weekly, including some flexibility regarding schedule changes required to accommodate patient needs

  • Must be able to pass a background check

  • Must obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card

  • Must acquire certifications in CPR / First Aid

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and provide physically active engagement with children

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Is this a paid role?

Yes. Trainees are paid hourly employees of BloomKidz with full benefits. This is not a stipend or a tuition-only arrangement.

  • Do I need to be enrolled in a master's program to apply?

You should be actively enrolled in or recently graduated from an ABA master's program. We are also happy to talk with strong candidates who are about to begin one.

  • Will my supervisor be a BCBA?

Yes. All clinical supervision is provided by an Arizona-licensed BCBA on our team.

  • Can I do my ASU practicum here?

Yes — both for in-person matched students and for virtual students whose supervisor is approved by the MS ABA program director.

  • What happens after I pass my exam?

You move into an LBA / BCBA role at BloomKidz. Our BCBA team is built almost entirely from clinicians we trained ourselves.

  • How selective is the program?

We hire trainees with the expectation that they will become exceptional BCBAs — clinicians strong enough to make families' lives meaningfully better. We look for clinical curiosity, strong judgment, ethical seriousness, and the kind of work ethic that holds up under a real caseload.
