Chief Advancement OfficerMoms for Liberty
Location: Remote (strong preference for candidates based in Washington, D.C., Florida, or Texas)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $150,000 plus individual and department performance-based bonuses
The Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) is the senior leader responsible for all fundraising activities and staff across Moms for Liberty, Inc. (501(c)(4)) and the Moms for Liberty Foundation (501(c)(3)). This executive owns the organization's case for philanthropic support, builds and deepens relationships with major donors, leverages networks, cultivates opportunities, secures significant gifts, and stewards the financial resources needed to fuel the organization's ambitious mission and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the advancement efforts of a bold, future-forward grassroots organization
Design and execute an integrated, multi-year revenue strategy to support ambitious organizational growth across the 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(3)
Cultivate and manage a portfolio of deeply engaged major donors, including securing and stewarding six- and seven-figure gifts from high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporate partners
Turn program outcomes and impact into compelling stories that inspire belief, action, and investment
Serve as a trusted strategic partner and moves-management driver to the CEO, Board of Directors, and the advancement team
Strengthen forecasting, pipeline growth, data-driven systems, and long-term donor relationships
Build, mentor, and lead a small but adaptive advancement team that is ready to grow, fostering clarity, purpose, accountability, and high performance
Influence cross-organizational strategy as a key member of the senior leadership team and Strategic Planning Team
Act as a strategic advisor on organizational positioning, sustainability, and big-picture direction
Ensure donor engagement is integrated into all organizational events
Participate in chapter and national activities to increase visibility and stakeholder engagement
Oversee and manage the advancement department budget
Oversee the direct mail and digital fundraising campaigns, individual giving, grants, event sponsorships, legacy giving, and related financial metrics in partnership with investment professionals
Hire, supervise, and develop advancement staff while championing Moms for Liberty's Joyful Warrior Culture
Travel frequently to donor markets and maintain an active presence in key communities
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications
7-10 years of leadership experience leading a nonprofit development/advancement department, ideally with both a 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(3)
Proven track record of elevating grassroots organizations and successfully designing/executing comprehensive, multi-year fundraising campaigns (including major gifts, planned giving, and foundational giving, and sponsorships)
Demonstrated success securing and stewarding six- and seven-figure gifts from high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporate partners
Experience managing and mentoring advancement teams with a focus on accountability, collaboration, and professional development
Strong financial acumen, including budget oversight, performance metrics, and direct mail/planned giving operations
Exceptional relationship-building and storytelling skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders—including high-profile individuals, senior government officials, volunteers, and like-minded organizations
Demonstrated ability to serve as a strategic advisor and partner to executive leadership and governing boards
Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate the organization's mission, vision, and impact
Willingness and ability to travel frequently
