Position Summary

This role owns the business platforms the company runs on, with ServiceNow and Microsoft Dynamics 365 as the two anchor systems. It is accountable for how those platforms are architected, configured, integrated, governed, and evolved, and for making sure they turn business process into automated, measurable workflow rather than a collection of customizations.

The work spans two directions: setting platform strategy and roadmap for ServiceNow and Dynamics 365 (service, operations, sales, and customer engagement workflows, data model, integrations, and release management); and building and leading the team of platform owners, developers, and administrators who deliver and sustain them. The role is a strategic partner to the executive team and works hands-on with process owners to decide what gets automated, in which platform, and how it is measured.

This role partners closely with Custom Tooling under the Director, Software Engineering to run a single strategic roadmap across enterprise platforms and in-house tooling.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Strategy and Roadmap

  • Co-own a single strategic roadmap with the Director, Software Engineering that spans enterprise platforms (ServiceNow, Dynamics 365) and custom tooling (the IKE platform), with shared prioritization, sequencing, and funding decisions.
  • Jointly own build-versus-buy-versus-configure decisions with Custom Tooling, so that capability lands in the right toolset and is not duplicated across platforms.
  • Own the multi-year roadmap for ServiceNow and Dynamics 365, including licensing and module strategy, release cadence, technical debt reduction, and retirement of redundant tools.
  • Define enterprise application architecture standards: data model, configuration-over-customization principles, environment and instance strategy, integration patterns, and upgrade-safe development practice.
  • Prioritize initiatives by ROI and business impact; present delivery status, platform metrics, and risk reviews to executives in terms they can act on.
  • Manage the enterprise applications operating and capital budget, including licensing, implementation partners, and vendor risk.

ServiceNow

  • Own the ServiceNow platform end to end: ITSM and service management, CMDB and discovery, workflow and flow design, service portal, integrations, and reporting.
  • Govern the CMDB and platform data model so records are authoritative, reconciled, and trusted by operations, delivery, and compliance.
  • Direct the build-versus-buy and configure-versus-customize decisions for ServiceNow capabilities, including use of IntegrationHub and Now Platform automation.
  • Manage ServiceNow instance lifecycle: upgrades, clones, update-set and deployment pipeline discipline, and performance and scalability.

Dynamics 365

  • Own the Dynamics 365 platform and its supporting data model across the applications in use (e.g., Sales, Customer Service, Finance and Operations), including security roles, business units, and environment strategy.
  • Drive quote-to-cash, pipeline, and customer-engagement process improvement, working with sales, finance, and delivery leaders to define and automate the workflows that matter.
  • Own the Dynamics-to-ServiceNow integration strategy so customer, contract, and service data flows cleanly between sales, delivery, and operations without duplicate systems of record.
  • Govern Power Platform use (Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse) as an extension of Dynamics, with clear guardrails for citizen development.

Integration, Data, and Adjacent Platforms

  • Design and maintain the integration architecture between enterprise platforms and custom tooling in tight partnership with Custom Tooling engineering, with shared interface standards, a common data model for overlapping entities, and defined systems of record.
  • Set integration strategy and standards across ServiceNow, Dynamics 365, M365, the HRIS, and custom tooling; own API, credential, and write-back scope decisions with the application security function.
  • Establish data governance, master data ownership, and validation practices to ensure reliable reporting and analytics across enterprise platforms.
  • Maintain oversight of M365, HRIS, and related business applications, partnering with managed services and infrastructure owners on identity, hosting, and end-user platform dependencies.

Delivery, DevOps, and Automation

  • Run enterprise applications delivery with a disciplined SDLC: backlog, sprint or release cadence, testing, change control, and documentation.
  • Establish CI/CD and automated testing for platform configuration and code, and continuously improve delivery speed, quality, and reliability.
  • Evaluate and introduce AI and automation capabilities, including those native to ServiceNow and Dynamics 365 and Copilot-style features, with guardrails for data handling and human review.

Security, Compliance, and Governance

  • Ensure applications, data flows, and automations meet applicable regulatory and security standards (CMMC, NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR), coordinating with the compliance engineering function that owns the control set.
  • Align ServiceNow service management processes (incident, problem, change, configuration, and service catalog) to ISO/IEC 20000-1 and support the company's ISO certification and surveillance audits as they affect enterprise platforms.
  • Establish platform governance: role-based access, segregation of duties, audit logging, change approval, and data retention.
  • Support audit activity and remediation programs, and contribute to corporate IT policy.

Team Leadership

  • Hire, structure, and directly manage platform owners, ServiceNow and Dynamics developers, administrators, and business analysts.
  • Set standards for configuration, code review, testing, and documentation; build a culture of accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement.
  • Own workforce planning, succession, and skills development, including build-versus-partner decisions for specialized or surge capacity.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Operate as a tight working partner to the Director, Software Engineering, with a joint planning cadence, shared dependency tracking, and a single combined status view to the CTO across both toolsets.
  • Serve as the enterprise applications point of contact for Product Management and Research & Development on shared platform and integration dependencies.
  • Partner with finance, sales, delivery, HR, and operations leaders as the owner of the systems their processes run on.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including 5+ years leading enterprise application, development, or digital transformation teams.
  • Demonstrated ownership of ServiceNow at the platform level (architecture, governance, and roadmap), not only as an administrator or end user.
  • Demonstrated ownership of Microsoft Dynamics 365 at the platform level, including data model, security model, and integration with adjacent systems.
  • Experience partnering with an internal software engineering organization to run a unified roadmap across commercial platforms and custom-built systems.
  • Experience designing and governing integrations between enterprise platforms, including API, data synchronization, and credential-scope decisions.
  • Proven record driving business process automation, workflow modernization, and measurable process improvement.
  • Experience leading development teams and managing SDLC, DevOps, release management, and change control for enterprise platforms.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms, cybersecurity frameworks, and data governance as they apply to enterprise applications.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, licensing, and technology investment portfolios.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presentation skills.
  • S. Person status.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • ServiceNow certifications (e.g., Certified System Administrator, Certified Application Developer, CIS) and Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Power Platform certifications.
  • Experience with ServiceNow CMDB and Discovery, IntegrationHub, and Service Portal at scale.
  • Experience with Dataverse, Power Automate, and Power Apps governance.
  • Experience in regulated industries, ideally a defense industrial base, MSP, or MSSP context.
  • Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 20000-1 and how they translate into ITSM and platform configuration, including experience supporting an ISO certification or surveillance audit.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 GCC High and Azure Government, and with CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, and FedRAMP implications for enterprise platforms and SaaS boundaries.
  • Prior leadership of AI, automation, or application modernization initiatives on enterprise platforms.
  • Experience with enterprise architecture and cloud-native development.
