Position Overview

The Product Specialist plays a key role at the intersection of sales, product management, operations, and executives by providing analysis of products, developing, and maintaining pertinent cost structures, and accurately estimating costs associated with building custom products. Primarily, the Product Specialist supports these efforts through use of data and metrics, along with extensive knowledge of company product and processes, which enables Electric Mirror to capture revenue and product margin accurately, and ultimately meet or exceed the company’s financial and gross margin goals.

 Essential Job Functions

  1. Generates and monitors key data and metrics to measure product success throughout product life cycle
  2. Oversees product cost estimate and pricing initiatives, and leads pricing management efforts for any and all products within the corporate product portfolio
  3. Maintains cost estimating tools used to develop product cost and price structure
  4. Develops and supports requests-for-quote per design inputs and thorough knowledge of cost-of-goods sold
  5. Assists in revisions to historical cost estimates and procedural improvement of estimating department
  6. Consistently and accurately calculates estimates on custom products for use in project bids
  7. Works with global sourcing team on outsourced custom product quotes
  8. Exploratory data analysis in support of sales, finance, and product management
  9. Perform margin analysis to understand and improve specific jobs and production processes
  10. Working with the Product Management team, identify and create product that is meaningful, feasible and valuable
  11. Support product life cycle by identifying opportunities to modify, update, create or discontinue product based on trend data
  12. Maximizes efficiency by engaging in existing processes, and conceives of process improvements or new processes when applicable
  13. Performs additional duties and assignments, as assigned

  6. Excellent interpersonal skills required to be a liaison between Sales, Management, Engineering, R&D, Program Management, Operations, etc.

Physical Demands

  1. Primarily a sedentary role
  2. Able to lift/push/pull up to 20 lbs

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  1. This is a Full-Time, Salaried position
  2. Days and hours of work are   M-F, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM                                                       .

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree (or similar experience) in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or related field
  2. At least three years’ experience in Estimating, Cost Management or Pricing Management, Statistics, Data Management, or Accounting preferred
  3. At least three years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  4. Experience in hospitality sector, commercial lighting, healthcare, senior living, multi-family and/or residential sectors preferred
  5. Requires fluency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), various CRM platforms, MRP & ERP systems, engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs) & methods of manufacture (MOMs), as well as labor sequencing flow charts and process flow charts
