Description

GPI seeks a professional, innovative, self-driven individual to manage a fast-paced construction testing/inspection department in a dynamic company providing geotechnical engineering, construction inspection, and environmental consulting in Pullman, Washington. This position is responsible for a department and the successful employment of numerous individuals in a thriving environment. Leading the following 6 key business areas are the position’s responsibilities and expectations.

  • Business Development
  • Risk Management, Loss Prevention, and Quality Control
  • Staff and Equipment Management
  • Project/Laboratory Management
  • Financial Management
  • Leadership

Qualified candidate will have:

  • 4-year college degree or 5+ years of industry experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Master of Special Inspection, NICET Level 4, or suite of WAQTC and IQP certifications.
  • Basic use of computer and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s licenses with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel out of town, work overtime, weekends, holidays when project work and staffing requires.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with clients, contractors, supervisors, and staff. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, testing procedures, and project plans and specifications. Ability to write reports and correspondence legibly, accurately and professionally.
  • Proven situational communication skills in being able to coach people having varied skills and knowledge.
  • Mathematical skills; ability to accurately calculate test results in accordance with test procedures and perform testing calculations.
  • Organization; ability to multitask and move from one assignment to the next quickly and with initiative.
  • Reasoning; ability to apply reasonable judgment and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to develop and apply company and department vision in harmony.
  • Meet accepted deadlines through effective planning and organization skills; ability to multi-task and remain flexible with adjusting priorities.
  • Physical demands; while performing this position’s duties, the employee must regularly lift and/or move 75 pounds or more. Individual must work in adverse weather conditions including extreme hot and cold temperatures.
