The IT Technician maintains and updates the company's information technology operations and cybersecurity compliance in a defense-manufacturing environment. The role administers the Microsoft 365 GCC High platform end-to-end, supports CMMC Level 2 / NIST SP 800-171 compliance efforts, and maintains IT infrastructure, and endpoints. The IT Technician is responsible for the administration, availability, security, and backup of the company's on-premises virtualized server environment.
Support and maintain CMMC Level 2 compliance efforts
Support the System Security Plan (SSP), POA&Ms, and supporting evidence aligned to NIST SP 800-171 controls / CMMC
Evaluate vendor and service compliance, including FedRAMP / FedRAMP-equivalency assessments for cloud and backup providers
Administer the Microsoft 365 GCC High tenant, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and secure external file-sharing
Manage device and policy administration through Intune and Group Policy (GPO), including conference-room and shared-account posture
Maintain server, network, and backup infrastructure; troubleshoot email delivery, identity, and configuration issues
Execute endpoint hardware provisioning, imaging, and lifecycle management for compliant devices
Maintain IT policies, standard operating procedures, and documentation
Use scripting (e.g., PowerShell) to automate compliance, discovery, and administration tasks
Maintain an asset inventory and manage software licensing
Work with external service providers to complete IT related projects
Report system, security, and project status to senior management
Administer the multi-host virtualization (hypervisor) cluster and its management platform, including resource allocation, high availability, host patching, capacity planning, and maintaining expansion headroom for future growth
Manage the full virtual-machine lifecycle: provisioning, sizing, snapshots, monitoring, and decommissioning
Administer redundant domain controllers, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and replication health
Administer the file servers: shares, permissions, quotas, and storage capacity
Administer the database servers: maintenance plans, performance, backups, and application access
Maintain the CAD and PCB/EDA design environments, including engineering data management (PDM/vault) and integration with engineering workflows
Administer the license server (Licenses); monitor floating-license availability and manage renewals
Support the line-of-business application servers, including the accounting system, the quality management system (QMS), the the ERP, and other internal applications; coordinate updates, backups, and access with Finance, Quality, and Engineering
Administer the version-control (source-control) server, including version updates, integrations, key management, and reliable email delivery to the Microsoft 365 GCC High tenant
Maintain the unified communications / VoIP system
Own backup and recovery through the backup and replication platform: job configuration, retention, monitoring, periodic restore and DR testing, and off-site or immutable copies, aligned with CMMC and FedRAMP-equivalency requirements for any cloud backup targets
Maintain PCs and support onboarding and offboarding requirements
To perform this job successfully, the candidate will meet the following requirements:
5+ years in IT operations, systems administration, or infrastructure support
Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, SQL, Python, or equivalent) with a track record of eliminating manual IT processes
Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and Windows endpoint management
Working knowledge of NIST 800-171 / CMMC and experience supporting compliance efforts
Hands-on experience managing a help desk or service desk function, including ticket systems, SLAs, and support metrics
The individual must have the ability to read, write, and understand spoken English; the ability to read and understand product requirements and performance specifications and schematics; assembly drawings, parts lists, test procedures, engineering drawings, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Excellent communication skills and the ability work productively in a collaborative team environment are essential.
