Operation Dynamo

Operation Dynamo, or “The Miracle of Dunkirk,” was the rescue of over 300,000 Allied soldiers during the early stages of WWII.

The craziest part is that it wasn't supposed to be possible. They thought they didn't have enough of the right ships to rescue even half the soldiers stranded in France.

Operation Dynamo happened solely because the owners of fishing boats, private ships, ferries, dinghies, and beat up barges all volunteered to pitch in because they knew how much the mission mattered.

Over 800 vessels and 90% of them “not the right fit” on paper. But they got the job done because they had the character and vision to make it happen anyway.
