An Unpopular Piece of Advice: Fire Quickly
Here's an unpopular piece of advice: Fire quickly.
I do want to clarify:
Second chances and teaching are important.
But it does NOT help anyone to keep a struggling employee in a job where they are not being successful. It doesn't help your business and it doesn't help their professional growth.
Nor is it helpful to your other employees to force them to work with someone who is hurting them through a lack of productivity or a bad attitude.
People problems don't get better when you ignore them. The only way to fix them is when you have those awkward (but necessary) conversations.
