But a few of us on LinkedIn need a reminder that so much of the hiring process is about signals.

Everything on your profile sends a signal:

  • Your photo
  • Your name
  • Your tone

If your profile looks like a joke, it sends one signal loud and clear: “My standards are optional.”

No, you don't always have to wear a tie or speak like a corporate robot. But you DO have to show you have the judgement and maturity that signals “I understand the stakes and I can read the room.”
