Some people are catching on to this too late: You should never hire someone just because of race or some other characteristic they can't control.

Hire whoever you think is best at the job. Full stop.

Not only is it insulting to reduce someone to a checked box, you're also signing up for forcing people into roles they might not be ready for yet. Which could have disastrous effects for your business. It is not kind to them, nor is it kind to your team.

This really is just common sense.

Reward people because of the results they bring, NOT because of their race or gender.

Next time you hire, hire based on merit. Next time you promote someone, promote them based on their performance and potential. Reward people because of the results they bring, NOT because of their race or gender.

It is quite literally insane to hire any other way.

Hire and promote on merit.

Reward people for the results they bring.
