3 things you should believe about hiring:

  1. It's wrong to let AI make decisions on candidates (at the very least, unwise). These are humans you're dealing with, not 1s and 0s. AI can detect skills on a resume, but it can't judge character, work ethic, mindset, etc.
  2. You need to create a great employment brand if you want to attract top talent. “Culture” is a buzzword, so show, don't tell:
    • Refuse to allow gossip and workplace politics.
    • Publicly brag on great employees, your mission, and great work.
    • Work to make everyone at your company a more joyful, productive, and skilled human than when they joined.
  3. Remember that humans are not simply happy accidents. They are people with souls that have motives, desires, and goals, and you need to treat them as such.

And if I had to add a bonus thought, stay FAR away from AI interviews. A vast majority of candidates see AI comms as a huge detractor. Lean on real human conversations during the interview and screening process.
