2727 N Central Ave, Phoenix, Arizona 85004 United States of AmericaU-Haul Risk Management is hiring a Forklift Safety Manger, responsible for developing and maintaining processes and procedures to support company standards, policies and strategic directives, and work with management to advance and implement new strategies to promote forklift safety. Experience and knowledge of safe forklift operations, strong communication and leadership skills are critical. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee and continue to develop the training material for Team Members on safe and appropriate forklift operations.
Responsible for reviewing all forklift related incidents and provide feedback/guidance to the U-Haul Field Team on those incidents.
Provide research support, document, and organize the development of new tools to increase the knowledge available to Field leaders to manage the program compliance of their team.
Be the subject matter expert on all things forklift operation.
Build and maintain a knowledge of OSHA regulations to assist in compliance during day-to-day operations and incidents that may occur that involve U-Haul Team or property.
Coordinate with different entities to produce task specific educational material and videos to keep field team safe and efficient in their operations.
Develop forward-thinking tools and processes that integrate with existing Field programs and processes toward the objective of reducing team member injuries, and increased compliance with government regulations.
Work directly with Field leadership to get feedback on tools and processes developed and use their input to advance current tools and develop new tools to meet their expanding needs.
Coordinate and prioritize projects with computer programmers for development and reporting with follow up. An example of reporting/follow up could be taking input from end users on developments released to provide future guidance on program progression.
Develop course curriculum and build online training courses on our internal learning management system.
Help develop new measurements to determine program performance and areas that may need more attention.
Maintain a working knowledge of other programs in the department to assist in their forward progression as needed.
Participate in “After Hours” work on a rotation with other team members in Risk Management to ensure timely dissemination of information.
Other requirements and aptitudes:
At least two years’ experience operating a forklift safely and knowledge of how to maintain a forklift
Basic education through OSHA approved safety courses desirable
Excellent customer service with a strong work ethic
Desire undergraduate education in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and safety, a related field, or equivalent experience.
Forward-thinking, energetic, desire for growing responsibility, significantly curious, values face-to-face interaction; naturally successful in quickly developing relationships, rapport, and trust with individuals and in teams, possess strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong aptitude for technology, study, analysis, and careful planning, as well as the enthusiasm and ability to act under pressure, and do so with high quality results and professionalism
Proven success in project or program development, or program implementation along with experience and enthusiasm for technology
