Field Operations ManagerDesert Control
The Field Operations Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for directing and optimizing Desert Control’s field operations across California and Arizona. This position is responsible for developing process excellence and installation quality within the Yuma, AZ team, and leading both expansion and development of a second field team based near Bakersfield, California.
This role requires both strategic thinking and boots-on-the-ground operational execution—ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of every product deployment. The Field Operations Manager will be directing teams on the ground for each operation. Individual jobs generally last a day to three weeks, and depending on the operation's location, travel may be up to 100% some weeks. Travel is generally less than 40% annually.
Lead, organize, and oversee all field operations for product production and application at customer locations, ensuring timely, safe, and high-quality execution
Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance consistency, efficiency, and field performance for mobilization of people, equipment, and raw materials to and from customer property to maximize production and application of our products through customer irrigation systems
Supervise and build field operations teams, starting with the existing team in Yuma, AZ and expanding into California
Hire, train, and develop high-performing staff for both locations
Manage logistics:
Equipment readiness, materials procurement, vehicle maintenance, and project planning and scheduling
Enforce OSHA and company safety standards, ensuring a safe work environment and zero time-loss incidents
Provide technical guidance for temporary integration of our production equipment with irrigation systems, pumps, pressurized water movement, and field machinery
Oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance programs
Establish schedules, clearly delegate tasks, ensure safe, optimal operation
Maintain communication with clients, growers, golf superintendents, and municipal managers up to and through project completion
Represent Desert Control as a professional partner on site
Collaborate with sales and operations leadership to scope, plan, and prepare new projects
Manage documentation, including project plans, task assignments, project logs, safety reports, and client feedback
Utilize project management tools such as Excel, MS Teams, Confluence, and Jira for field reporting and coordination
Act as operational right hand to the Managing Director, contributing to growth strategy and business scale-up efforts
Act as a first-in last-out leader of a blue-collar, bi-lingual team, working shoulder to shoulder with them when needed, while presenting as the field extension of company leadership
Represent the company brand with pride and professionalism that earns the respect of the internal team as well as customers who include golf course owners/managers and multi-million to billion dollar agriculture companies
5+ years of field operations, project, or equipment management experience in agriculture, irrigation, construction, or industrial settings
Proven experience mobilizing people, equipment, and resources to remote sites under tight schedules
Strong mechanical aptitude; familiarity with pumps, hoses, and high-pressure water systems
OSHA-30 certification required (or willingness to obtain as employer paid training)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (required) and digital project tracking tools (Teams, Confluence, Jira can be employer trained OJT)
Excellent leadership, communication, and troubleshooting skills
Formal Irrigation Certification preferred
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
