Intelligent Transportation Field TechnicianAnonymous
We are looking for an Intelligent Transportation Field Technician to perform various technical tasks utilizing Intelligent Transportation Devices, networking, and low voltage power.
Upon completion of a multifaceted training program, they will be able to troubleshoot, configure, test, and start up various ITS devices and communication devices as well as have a general knowledge of transportation industry products and services and be able to concentrate on performing their tasks, commit to and model safety rules, and travel onsite with overnight trips as needed. This job entails regular travel to job sites, including both local day trips and multiple overnight stays per week within company territories.
Troubleshoot technical issues for various devices, both from the office and the job site and instruct/support other team members in their efforts do to the same
Take ownership and initiative to regularly report status of and complete reports, tasks, and assignments to support the Director of ITS within overall established department goals and priorities
Escalate potential problems, productivity delays, unusual events, customer/contractor concerns, and work irregularities appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel
Solve problems, make independent judgments delegating tasks and duties and coordinating equipment, supplies, materials, specifications/requirements and timelines needed to complete the assignment/project
Start up and configure various field devices
Execute test procedures for various field devices
Handle customer facing interactions as needed
Assist in all areas of the company to build a working knowledge of all products
Any other duties as supervisor, the President, or CEO may require
Education & Experience:
Prior experience in the mentorship and/or leadership of a team, highly preferred
Previous experience in training others in a group and/or one-on-one setting, preferred
Eager to take ownership of projects
Follow up on jobs to ensure completion
Agile and capable of giving regular updates on progress
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing and walking for prolonged periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 50 pounds, etc.) with or without reasonable accommodation
Basic computer skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions accurately and completely
Communication and teamwork skills with a positive demeanor
Willing to learn new technologies and be self-motivated to increase knowledge
Commitment to safety rules and DOT standards for roadway workspace
Must be able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
Strong work ethic
Flexible work hours as needed to accommodate customer work schedules on occasion
Ability to travel onsite with some overnight stays, some of which may originate on a weekend
Strong time management skills to meet deadlines and balance multiple competing priorities and projects within a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to resolve conflicts or miscommunications from an internal and external perspective both quickly and amicably
