We have identified a need to grow our team with a Floral Design Coordinator who will serve as the operational backbone of our design team. This hands-on leadership position will be equal parts: production coordinator, creative designer, workflow manager, and team facilitator.
Richfield Flowers is a long-standing local flower institution that provides flowers for events, from weddings to business functions, as well as having a bustling in-house retail operation. In parallel with our partner companies, we also provide event décor rental, ceiling draping, and custom installations. Job Description
This is a full-time position for a Floral Design Coordinator. The individual will orchestrate the daily operations of our design studio while actively creating beautiful floral arrangements for both retail and event clients. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented floral designer who thrives on organization, enjoys mentoring others, and wants to ensure seamless execution of all floral projects.
We are open to discussing new and modified positions for a variety of seniority levels on a part-time, full-time, and seasonal basis.
Job Responsibilities
Daily Operations Coordination (40%)
Coordinate and prioritize daily design production schedules for retail and event orders
Manage workflow between designers to ensure timely completion of all projects
Oversee inventory allocation and distribution for multiple concurrent projects
Schedule and assign design tasks based on designer strengths and project requirements
Quality control and final approval of all floral arrangements before delivery
Coordinate with delivery team to ensure proper handling and timing
Maintain production timelines and communicate updates to sales and management teams
Floral Design Execution (45%)
Design and create daily retail arrangements, including walk-in orders and standing accounts
Execute event floral designs according to client specifications and proposals
Mentor junior designers and provide hands-on design guidance
Maintain design standards and aesthetic consistency across all products
Process and prepare flowers for optimal longevity and presentation
Inventory and Supply Management (15%)
Monitor daily flower inventory levels and coordinate with purchasing team
Ensure proper flower care, conditioning, and storage protocols
Track product usage and waste to optimize ordering and minimize loss
Maintain organized and efficient workspace for maximum productivity
Oversee design supply inventory (foam, ribbon, containers, etc.)
Qualifications
Required
3+ years of professional floral design experience
Demonstrated experience in production management or team coordination
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Expert knowledge of floral design techniques, flower varieties, and product care
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Physical ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and seasonal demands
Ability to pass a background check
Preferred
Floral certification or formal design education
Experience with inventory management systems
Previous supervisory or training experience
Knowledge of Google Workspace suite and POS systems
Understanding of event floral requirements and timelines
Experience with cost management and waste reduction initiatives
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate
Previous experience in a high-volume floral environment
Strong attention to detail and quality standards
Collaborative working style and team mentorship abilities
Pre-existing involvement within the Twin Cities floral or event industry
