Full Stack Software EngineerAugust Venture Talent

Job Summary

You’ll be the technical heartbeat of our client's idea incubator—leading the end-to-end development of new AI-powered products, from concept to live launch. This role drives full-stack software development, system architecture, and API integration, all within a high-autonomy environment and close collaboration with the founding team.

WE CAN ONLY CONSIDER LOCAL CANDIDATES.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Architect and develop full-stack AI-driven products from concept to production, delivering scalable, innovative solutions.

  • Integrate with APIs like Twilio, Grok, OpenAI, and others to power features that redefine user experiences.

  • Collaborate with founders to filter and prioritize ideas, assessing technical feasibility and shaping product roadmaps.

  • Choose modern tech stacks (e.g., Python, Go, Node.js, TypeScript, React, Next.js, PostgreSQL) and tools to build efficient, user-focused applications, selecting what fits each product best.

  • Propose new features or opportunities based on technical insights, driving continuous innovation.

What Success Looks Like

  • Within 6 Months: Launch at least one AI-driven product from idea to live deployment, seamlessly integrating core APIs.

  • Within 12 Months: Deliver multiple products, with at least one gaining market traction (e.g., user adoption or revenue, TBD with founders). Optimize successful products and potentially mentor a junior developer as the team grows.

  • Ongoing: Demonstrate a “figure it out” mindset, contributing to idea prioritization and enhancing product efficiency based on user feedback.
Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Experience: 3+ years of full-stack development, with a track record of building and launching apps or tools. Bonus for AI-driven or finance-related projects.

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in integrating APIs (e.g., Twilio, OpenAI) and developing across modern stacks (e.g., Python, Go, Node.js, TypeScript). Comfortable with basic UI design and architectural decisions.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of API-driven development and scalable system design. Familiarity with AI tools or finance applications is a plus.

  • Problem-Solving: A history of tackling unfamiliar challenges, evidenced by side projects or rapid prototypes.

Who You Are

  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: You thrive in a fast-paced, unstructured environment, taking initiative without needing rigid processes. You’re excited to shape a startup’s future.

  • Optimism and Energy: You approach challenges with a “how can this work?” mindset, bringing enthusiasm to brainstorming and problem-solving.

  • Resourcefulness: You’re a self-starter who figures things out independently, whether learning a new API or prototyping under tight deadlines.

  • Collaborative Mindset: You communicate technical ideas clearly to non-technical team members, building trust and aligning on vision.

  • Adaptability: You embrace experimentation, pivoting quickly when ideas don’t pan out and learning from failures.

About Us

Our client company is a dynamic product incubator founded by two entrepreneurs with a long history of building data-driven companies. They've built three successful companies and currently lead a fintech platform that analyzes consumer behavior trends to inform investment decisions. Its financial success provides the foundation for funding and supporting the development of new products through the newly formed product incubator.

This company exists to take bold product ideas—especially those powered by AI—from concept to real-world testing. We move quickly, keep teams lean, and invest in what gains traction. The environment is founder-led, hands-on, and collaborative. Engineers, marketers, and contributors work closely with the founders from idea through launch, shaping what gets built and how it reaches the market.

The culture values curiosity, experimentation, and clear thinking. Whether it's a technical prototype or a live campaign, the priority is simplicity, speed, and momentum—testing early, discarding what doesn’t work, and evolving what does. If you love doing and building—this company offers a refreshingly action-oriented environment.

The company is based just outside of Louisville, KY in a park-like setting. While each project may take a slightly different form, the pace is consistent: fast, iterative, and execution-driven. Strong contributors are often rewarded with expanded roles as products gain traction and the team grows. The team works on what matters most, with clear priorities and minimal distraction.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an outstanding opportunity for a product-minded engineer who thrives on autonomy, variety, and speed. You won’t be maintaining legacy code or plugging into a rigid team structure—you’ll be shaping architecture, selecting tools, and launching AI-powered products from scratch.

You’ll work directly with the founders—highly experienced entrepreneurs with a track record of building and scaling successful ventures. The pace is fast, the feedback is real-time, and the emphasis is always on doing and building, not planning for planning’s sake. You’ll be based in their Louisville-area office, collaborating closely with the founders and shaping products from day one.

To the right candidate, this isn’t just a job—it’s a chance to ship meaningful software in an environment that rewards execution and momentum. If you enjoy going from zero to one, influencing product direction without layers of approval, and moving quickly with purpose, this role was built for you.

As the first engineering team member, you’ll also have the opportunity to help shape future hires and grow into a leadership role as products scale and succeed.

LOCATION, COMPENSATION & WHAT THE COMPANY OFFERS

This is an in-person role based in the Louisville metro area. The team operates from a beautifully appointed office where each team member has a private workspace—allowing for focused, high-impact work in a collaborative and energized setting.

You are offered a compelling combination of stability, autonomy, and performance-based reward:

  • Competitive salary, based on experience and impact
  • Year-end bonus, tied to individual and company performance
  • Health insurance premium reimbursement
  • Flexible work hours, with unlimited PTO
  • A proven track record of rewarding high performers with significant raises and opportunities to grow with the company

You’ll also have what you need to succeed from day one:

  • All necessary equipment, software, and subscriptions provided
  • Private office space within a quiet, high-functioning environment
  • Access to nature trails and a nearby park, just steps from the office—ideal for recharging between high-focus work sessions
