Job Summary

Logos School, a Christ-centered classical Christian school in Moscow, Idaho, seeks a passionate and dedicated Upper School Science Teacher to inspire students in the study of biology and chemistry through a creationist and Christian perspective. The ideal candidate will embody a love for God’s creation, fostering joy and a sense of wonder in students while delivering rigorous instruction within a classical pedagogical framework. This full-time position serves students in grades 10-12, equipping them to explore the natural world as a reflection of God’s design and glory.

Responsibilities
  • Instruction: Teach biology and chemistry courses for upper school students, integrating a creationist worldview that affirms the biblical account of creation and the order of the natural world. Employ classical pedagogy, including the trivium (grammar, logic, rhetoric), to cultivate critical thinking, eloquent expression, and a deep appreciation for scientific inquiry.
  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement engaging lesson plans that align with Logos School’s classical Christian educational philosophy, emphasizing the wonder of God’s creation. Incorporate hands-on experiments, discussions, and Socratic questioning to spark curiosity and intellectual growth.
  • Student Engagement: Foster a classroom environment that radiates joy, encourages exploration, and nurtures a sense of awe at the complexity and beauty of God’s world. Guide students to connect scientific principles to their faith, helping them see biology and chemistry as expressions of divine order.
  • Assessment: Evaluate student progress through assignments, labs, projects, and exams that reflect classical education goals and uphold academic rigor. Provide constructive feedback to support intellectual and spiritual growth.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to integrate science with other disciplines, reinforcing the unity of knowledge under a Christian worldview. Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and professional development.
  • Mentorship: Serve as a role model of Christian virtue, guiding students in their spiritual and academic journeys. Encourage students to pursue truth, beauty, and goodness in their studies and lives.
  • Community Engagement: Build relationships with students, parents, and the broader Logos School community, reflecting the school’s commitment to partnership in Christian education.
Qualifications
  • Passion for inspiring wonder and joy in students through the study of God’s creation
  • Ability to weave a creationist and Christian perspective into biology and chemistry instruction
  • Proficiency in classical pedagogical methods, including Socratic dialogue and integrative teaching
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage students and build community
  • Commitment to academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, and spiritual growth
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of Biology and Chemistry and enthusiasm for teaching from a Christian worldview
  • A vibrant, personal faith in Jesus Christ as demonstrated by regular attendance at a Bible believing and preaching church
  • A commitment to a creationist perspective, affirming the biblical account of creation
  • Active involvement in a local church and agreement with Logos School’s statement of faith
  • Agreement with Logos School’s Statement of Faith
Nice to Have
  • Master’s degree
  • Prior teaching experience at the secondary level
  • Familiarity with classical Christian education and the trivium
  • ACSI certification
