August Venture Talent, a startup-focused recruiting firm, is serving as talent advisor to the founder of a well-funded B2B software startup in Boise, Idaho. (Relocation assistance is available.)

We're looking for someone with exceptional experience as a Principal or Lead Software Engineer to join our client as one of the first five team members.

As one of the most accomplished technical minds in the company, you will play a leadership role in the architecture and engineering of our client's product and broader technical platform.

We are building this engineering team with the philosophy of hiring the smartest and most seasoned talent, all working together in Boise, and equipping each of those people with cutting-edge AI development tools to kill the drudgery of low-level tasks, unit tests, and documentation.

Capture the long-term vision for our product roadmap, and convert that into a step-by-step plan for how to sequence the building of our product and technical platform to support it.

Work with our CEO to make technology choices (database, frameworks, languages, etc.) that fit the skill set of our team, needs of our product, and expected scale of our user base.

Design and stand up our AWS datacenter systems in the cloud to support the product and platform.

Architect, design and engineer back-end services and front-end features and user experience for the product across web, desktop and mobile.

Engage with users and customers to understand how they think, what they need, and how to build the best product to serve them.

Set standards for the team on how to write code that is scalable, manageable, reliable, and testable.

Mentor other engineers on the team. Help them to grow in their skills, and understand how best to contribute to the product build.

• Ability to set technical vision and standards for peers, and drive improvement in our use of technologies

• Works independently in full stack projects, including security, design patterns, database architecture, etc.

• Mentors others in developing problem solving expertise, and assists them with appropriate technology choices

• Contributes to architecting sustainable, self-healing systems and features that are fault tolerant, and instrumented for ease of troubleshooting when a fault occurs

• Promotes an environment of collaboration and openness across the entire team

• Informs and mentors others on business objectives and our product strategy for achieving them

• Seeks out and evaluates new technologies and techniques; assists with rollout when appropriate

• Understands the entirety of our technical platform and can help point newer teammates where to look
