Organizational Overview:
Convention of States Action is a 501(c)(4) grassroots nonprofit organization committed to enacting action to restore self-governance in America. The Convention of States Project (www.conventionofstates.com ) strives to call a Convention of States under Article V of the U.S. Constitution to propose amendments to limit federal power.
Position Overview
Responsible for raising funds and developing and maintaining relations with donors for Convention of States Foundation and Convention of States Action. Reports to Senior Vice President of External Relations.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with management and distribution of prospect packages
- Assists with booking calls, sending pledges, and follow-ups
- Other related duties, as assigned
- Proven experience with successful fundraising, project management, sales or politics
- Strongly supports COSA’s mission and core values (https://conventionofstates.com/corevalues ) and knowledgeable about current political issues
- Must be highly loyal and trustworthy with a history of working in an environment where sensitive information is protected
- Occasional travel required
Skills:
Communication & Interpersonal:
- Exhibits effective interpersonal verbal & written communication skills
- Cold-calls prospects to gain new supporters
- Builds and cultivates donor relationships
- Creates bio sheets for donor and prospect meetings
Computer Working Knowledge and Experience:
- Salesforce or another database/CRM with the ability to query and create reports
- Microsoft Word and Excel, GSuites, GMail, Google calendar, Google sheets, and Google Docs with the ability to mail merge and format documents
- General proficiency with a variety of programs (e.g. Slack, merchant processing, project management software, Zoom)
- Experience with Mailchimp or email marketing software is a plus
Collaboration:
- Interacts with other staff members in a virtual working environment
Negotiation & Persuasion skills:
- Passionately explains Convention of States mission
- Encourages new support from prospects and expanded support from existing donors
Management:
- Appropriately self-motivated and organized to work remotely with little supervision
- Manages travel schedule
