H.A. Dorsten, Inc. is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to join the Dorsten team.  We are an established company with growth opportunities and HR is a small department with big responsibilities. This position takes on several roles including recruiting, hring & selection for open positions within the company, maintaining open job listings, onboarding, employee relations, benefits management and processing accurate payroll and submitting accurate reports.  This position is responsible for participation in job fairs & maintaining social media sites.  Problem solving and technical skills a must.  


  • Partner with leadership to create and execute a talent management strategy
  • Composing creative job postings with internal and external sources; using social media and professional networking sites to obtain good candidates for open positions.
  • Manage and maintain job requisitions and candidates
  • Build networks to find qualified applicants by participating in career fairs, high school visits/events, and other entities to promote employment opportunities with H.A. Dorsten.
  • Aid in screening, and interviewing job applicants. Perform reference checks on potential candidates, and submit job offers to prospective employees.
  • Conduct new hire orientation
  • Assist with public relations to support H.A. Dorsten's growth plan and build solid presence with social media and other resources both internally and externally
  • Prepare payroll including vacation requests, new hires, terminations, time and attendance records, and employee information updates
  • Assist managers and supervisors with appropriate documentation of employee coaching and disciplinary actions, including termination. Serve as witness and/or liaison in meeting with employees.
  • Review and update policies and procedures
  • Ensure our benefits package continues to be competitive with the market


  • Associates degree preferred
  • 2-3 Years of experience in Sales, Marketing, Recruiting or Office Management position
  • Detail-oriented and capable to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Efficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Critical Evaluation. Unbiased decision-making ability
  • Excellent communication skills with Supervisors, other Managers and employees
  • Construction knowledge helpful
