(Progressive) specializes in environmental engineering, consulting and remediation services, including site assessment, pilot/feasibility studies, remedial design, remedial strategy development, design plans and specifications, construction management, design/build, and hands-on O&M of remediation systems. Our projects range from small industrial facilities to high profile CERCLA/RCRA sites located throughout the United States, and involve a wide variety of municipal and industrial clients and types of contaminated sites. Founded in 1999, we are a woman-owned small business providing hands-on, cost-effective services to meet our clients’ environmental and general/process engineering needs.

Job Description:

Progressive seeks mid-level (4+ years) Project Engineer(s) (various disciplines acceptable: civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, environmental) with environmental assessment/remediation and process design experience. Each candidate must be a team-oriented individual capable of performing multiple tasks and working with other team members on a wide range of sites in Florida and throughout the United States. General responsibilities shall include and may not be limited to: 

  • Site assessment including groundwater, soil, surface water and air sample collection
  • Pilot studies, field testing, O&M of remedial systems, operational data collection
  • Data compilation, evaluation, and database management
  • Drafting, modeling, statistical evaluation of data, and other data compilation/presentation
  • Construction and subcontractor management/oversight
  • Remedial system startup, troubleshooting and O&M services
  • Process/controls design plans/specs, equipment selection/specs
  • Hands-on experience working with pumps, blowers, compressors, controls/instrumentation, etc.
  • Control panel design, fabrication
  • PLC programming, SCADA/HMI systems programming and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of groundwater/lithology characteristics/logging, hydraulics, modeling (MODFLOW/other)
  • Preparation of a variety of reports applicable to assessment, design, construction, O&M, and performance evaluations (e.g., work plans, design reports, construction/O&M documents, health and safety plans)
  • Preparation for field events, equipment rental, equipment calibration and maintenance
  • Support senior staff with budgeting, scheduling, and proposals
  • Communication with clients, regulatory agencies, vendors, subcontractors, etc.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • P.E. license preferred
  • Experience in environmental/engineering consulting• Hands-on experience with a wide variety of field/investigation equipment/methods and remediation technologies
  • Proficiency with mechanical and electrical equipment use, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in preparing technical reports and strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office software including Access, Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification (with required refresher course certification)
  • Knowledge of FDEP and CERCLA regulations and policies
  • Experience with hydrologic/groundwater modeling software (Surfer, MT3DMS, MODFLOW, AQTESOLV)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS/ArcView, RockWorks, or other geological database software
  • Ability to travel up to 40% on an annual basis, ranging from overnight to possible extended stays
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
