Leyline Renewable Capital is looking for a Controller to oversee Accounting Operations and Accounting Team in the repidly growing environment. The role will be resposible for issuing periodic financial statements, strengthen internal controls, maintain adequate system of accouting records, and ensure that reported results comply with US GAAP. The role will also support bi-weekly payroll, quarterly tax distributions, and interface with independent auditors.

As a qualified candidate, you should posses a high work ethic, thorough understanding of US GAAP, experience overseeing a team of managers and accountants, strong organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. This role will be part of our leadership team and will play a key role in enhancing the internal infrastructure of the company from systems, processes, and controls perspective.

Your responsibilities as Leyline’s Controller will include but not limited to:

  •  Direct and oversee all aspects of the Accounting function of the organization including timely delivery of the multi-company monthly financial reporting packages.
  • Manage capital calls, quarterly tax distributions, and weekly cash management projection inputs.
  • Be a mentor and coach to the accounting personnel (currently a team of three) by helping them create their career vision board
  • Maintain investment to actual analysis for existing investments, track critical dates and reporting requirements for capital partners.
  • Ensure that effective internal conrols are in place and ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable federal , state, and local regulatory laws for financial and tax reporting.
  • Manage multi-company annual audits with external audit firm
  • Manage multi-company tax returns with external tax firm; support tax optimization strategies
  • Support transition from currently outsourced QuickBooks system to a potential internal system (likely Intacct or Netsuite)
  • Oversee construction accounting pay applications and reimbursements.
  • Work collaboratively with the Project Finance and Portfolio Management teams to oversee loan management, including calculating payoffs, support borrower statements, and deal terms and inquiries.
  • Provide the executive team with advice on the financial implications of business activities.
  • Support the CFO with ad hoc reporting, day to day investment management and presentations to external banks, investors, and capital partners.
  • Support corporate FP&A with operating plans and asset valuations.
  • Manage out-sourced accounting firm(s) as necessary.


The ideal candidate will meet the following minimum criteria:


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting with CPA.
  • 10+ years of experience in Finance & Accounting with at least 3 years in public accounting.
  • Expertise in operational and technical aspects of accounting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process oriented.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Team player who can manage multiple priorities and quickly adapt to rapidly changing needs.


  • Experience or understanding of Renewable Energy industry
  • Local to Raleigh/Durham area or willing to relocate
  • Budget management experience
  • Multi-state payroll experience/knowledge
  • Experience implementing accounting system
  • Start-up or small business exposure
