Position Summary

A steward for the Company’s assets while ensuring the integrity of all accounting functions and internal controls. Position is responsible for driving the day-to-day success of company and departmental strategic objectives and metrics. This position is expected to uphold the mission, vision and values established by the organization.

Essential Functions 

  • Manages day-to-day operations of the accounting department
  • Reviews, prepares, and enters standard journal entries, adjusting journal entries and allocation entries into the general ledger
  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Documents financial transactions by entering account information
  • Reconciles bank and general ledger accounts
  • Maintains accurate fixed asset records
  • Review and approves payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements
  • Oversees AP and AR functions
  • Analyzes variances and proactively identifies issues and opportunities for operational improvement
  • Prepares journal entries for payroll tax purposes
  • Prepares and enters monthly accruals and adjusting entries into the general ledger
  • Coordinates, supervises/manages monthly close process
  • Summarizes current financial information and prepares financial statements as needed
  • Works closely with CPA to ensure completion of annual financial statements, financial audits and tax returns
  • Leads internal coordination with outside auditors
  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls
  • Substantiates financial transactions via internal audit controls
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
  • Provides ad hoc reporting as needed          
  • Work side by side with Human Resources regarding hiring, terminating and performance management for employees within the department
  • Adheres to all company health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

Minimum Qualifications 

  • BA/BS in Accounting
  • 3 years managerial or progressive experience in a leadership role
  • 3-5 years progressive accounting experience
  • Experience with Budget vs. Actual Analysis
  • Experience leading
  • Experience with summarizing and preparing financial statements
  • Knowledge of and experience in applying GAAP working within the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to read, write and speak in the English language

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years progressive accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working within an ERP system within a manufacturing environment 

Supervisory Responsibility 

This position manages all employees within the Accounting department.
