JOB SUMMARY
Works under direction of the Regional Manager.  Runs the daily operation of the retail store.  Accountable for meeting budget and projection with reference to COG, Labor, and Sales. Information on these projections will be provided but in the meantime the key controls will be explained, for example; cutting shifts when slow and ensuring sampling and cooking happens when busy. Upholds standards and procedures for staff. Willing and able to have respectful and clear confrontations about policy. Focuses on the overall theme of “selling enjoyment” and the values that lead to community transformation. This job description is for the primary assistant manager but ideally there should be 2-3 other non salary but full time employees sharing the assistant manager duties. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintains daily operations of retail store
Counts down drawers, does day sheets and makes bank deposits

Ensures deposits happen weekly or biweekly

Uploads to book keeper promptly
Greets and waits on guests (makes sure every customer has an enjoyable experience)
Position the right people in the right places in the store
Make sure that all special orders and ship outs are taken care of.
Keeps retail shoppe clean and neat at all times (delegates to staff)
Understands and follows Kilwin’s procedure manual

Chooses kitchen manager, supervisors, and other store leaders with RM input
Maintains inventory and accounts for all products sold, taken or given away
    (promotional) from the retail store.
Handles ordering and inventory issues.
Establishes and invests in a Leadership Team (bi-monthly meetings)
Time Commitment: Expected to work at least 40 hours a week, with an understanding that busier times of year will often require overtime.

Answers phone 

Able to receive and fulfill corporate orders

Takes phoned-in and walk-in mail orders
Engage and commit to our leadership development program

Classification: Retail Assistant Manager Work Location: Charlottesville


Supervisor of: All staff in the store.


Base pay: salary $40,000/year plus tips - Other benefits: One week paid vacation. Two weeks available after one year on salary with the second week for use as sick/personal days or vacation time. To keep with labor targets vacation must be planned in advance so another salary employee or owner can cover the store, if the owner has to step in for the assistant manager to be absent that time constitutes vacation time.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have excellent people/customer skills
Must be able to follow corporate policies and procedures
Must have good organizational and follow through skills
Must have a constant focus on Leadership development.

Must be willing and able to delegate to the team and other assistant managers 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma necessary
Previous sales experience desired, but not required


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift 40 lbs. in merchandise
Ability to stand on feet in retail store environment for long periods
