Specialty Construction Supply is seeking a Director of Traffic Control Operations to lead and strengthen one of the largest traffic control operations in Southern Idaho.
This is a high responsibility leadership role focused on protecting people, supporting customers, keeping projects moving, and building a department that operates with professionalism, accountability, and care for the team.
The right candidate brings strong operational leadership, builds effective systems, and values the people performing the work. This person will align supervisors, project managers, and field personnel into a disciplined, efficient operation that contractors rely on and employees take pride in.
Provide overall operational leadership for traffic control activities across Southern Idaho
Lead and align supervisors, project managers, and field personnel
Develop, implement, and enforce systems for scheduling, dispatch, and daily operations
Establish and enforce a standard of field excellence, ensuring work zones are set up safely and correctly, actively maintained, and that any deficiencies or contractor concerns are identified and resolved quickly
Establish clear expectations and accountability for project managers related to job performance, documentation, and billing
Design and implement standardized processes for field documentation, including daily reports, quantities, and job records
Own the operational portion of the billing process, ensuring quantities are accurate, documented, and submitted without delay
Hold project managers accountable for timely and accurate billing and resolution of discrepancies
Work with accounting to ensure invoices are supported, submitted quickly, and tracked through payment
Identify and correct breakdowns in the billing cycle that create delays in invoicing or collections
Ensure all projects are reviewed and reconciled promptly upon completion
Develop systems that provide visibility into job costing, production, and performance metrics
Implement regular operational reviews to improve efficiency and reinforce accountability
Maintain strong relationships with contractors, municipalities, and project stakeholders
Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, accountability, and respect for the team
5–10 years in traffic control, construction, or related field operations
Proven experience leading field teams and managing operational performance
Strong organizational and leadership skills
Practical understanding of work zone safety and traffic control operations
Experience improving systems, workflows, or documentation processes in an operational environment
Strong communication skills and ability to build productive relationships
Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel

Base salary: $120,000 – $140,000 depending on experience
