We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Reporter to join our independent news team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in journalism and possess excellent writing and communication skills. As a Reporter, you will be responsible for researching, writing, and producing news stories that engage our audience while adhering to the highest journalistic standards. You should be comfortable working in fast-paced environments and have a keen eye for detail. The focus will be on local news in the Wood River Valley in Idaho, covering government, education, lifestyle, health, financial stories and more.
We would prefer candidates who live within 2 hours of Wood River Valley in Idaho.
Duties
Research and investigate news stories, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
Write clear, concise articles in AP style for various platforms, including print and digital.
Conduct interviews with sources to gather information and quotes for stories.
Edit and proofread articles to maintain high-quality standards before publication.
Produce multimedia content, including photography, videography, and video production to enhance storytelling.
Fact-check all information to ensure credibility and reliability of published content.
Collaborate with editors and other team members to brainstorm story ideas and develop content strategies.
Stay updated on current events and trends relevant to the community we serve.
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly to breaking news situations. Strong ethical judgment and commitment to maintaining journalistic standards and integrity.
Proven experience in journalism or a related field is preferred.
Strong writing skills with proficiency in AP style guidelines.
Experience in photography, videography, or video production is highly desirable.
Experience with CMS software such as BLOX or ability to learn.
Ability to multi-task and work on deadline.
Belief in the American project.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
Strong research skills coupled with the ability to conduct thorough fact-checking processes.
