Job Summary

The Director of Communications will serve as the organization’s chief storyteller and strategist, responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive communications plan. This role combines leadership of a small but growing communications team with hands-on content creation and media engagement responsibilities. It is ideal for a professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This is a high-impact, senior leadership position that combines strategic communications, media relations, digital leadership, and team management.

Responsibilities

· Shape and execute NRB’s overall messaging and communications strategy

· Serve as spokesperson (alongside the CEO and other senior executives) on religious liberty, free speech, and other policy issues

· Head up media relations with Christian, conservative, and mainstream outlets

· Draft speeches, op-eds, talking points, and rapid-response statements

· Operate all digital channels (website, email, social media, CEO’s accounts)

· Oversee and write publications, member communications, and advocacy alerts

· Supervise NRB's graphic design and visual branding

· Manage the communications team, budget, and vendors

· To perform other duties, as assigned by the executive staff

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience (Master’s a plus)

· 7–10+ years in strategic communications/PR; 5+ years leading teams

· Knowledge of analytics tools for measuring communication impact

· Proven national media relations and spokesperson experience

· Expert-level writing across platforms (from tweets to speeches)

· Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills

· Deep digital and social media strategy experience

· Strong prioritization and time management skills

· Success in navigating teams through changing and competing priorities

· Comfort and credibility navigating Capitol Hill and policy issues

· Comfort and ability to dive into hands on work and lead from the front

· The applicant should be a committed, well-established, mature Christian, and an active member of a local church

· Must reside in or be able to relocate to the Washington DC area
