The Programs Associate will work closely with (and report to) the Director of Programs to plan, execute, and refine the Buckley Institute’s varied and quality programs. Buckley is growing quickly as the campus culture at Yale begins to respond; this position allows a candidate to diversify their experience with programs and events on the leading edge of the free speech movement. The position is full-time in our New Haven, CT office.ResponsibilitiesAssist Director of Programs in researching, developing, and executing programs, including but not limited to lectures, debates, seminars, conferences, and fellowships that advance the mission of the organizationOrganize and help facilitate recruitment, social, and community building events for the Institute’s growing body of 800+ student fellows, in coordination with the student boardManage event logistics, including (but not limited to) speaker travel and lodging, catering and restaurant arrangements, event space setup, A/V booking, and registration for large eventsServe as a point of contact for participants, speakers, and vendors as necessaryAttend all organization events, take pictures, and, for certain events, take notes; events take place on average once or twice per week during the semester, typically eveningsInteract with student attendees and the student board to familiarize with campus opportunities and promising future leadersWork with the Communications team to promote the organization’s events and initiatives and increase engagement through outreach to students, alumni, faculty, organizations, and departmentsMaintain programming-related files, databases, and email listsHelp administer essay contests and Yale Faculty PrizeImplement and track program processes, assessments, and metricsStay apprised of ongoing and emergent discourse, events, and research in Buckley’s issue areasOccasionally meet with Yale faculty and attend Yale events to learn about campus cultureWork closely with the Communications team to coordinate on related Programs effortsOther duties and miscellaneous projects as requestedThe projected salary range for this role is $55,000 to $65,000 in addition to competitive benefits including a matching SIMPLE IRA plan, PTO, and health, dental, and vision insurance. Salary is contingent upon the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate.
