Position: Preschool Teacher

Location: San Francisco, CA

Reports To: Preschool Director

F/T Salary Range: $35K-75K

P/T Hourly Wage: $25-$45

Position Summary

The Preschool Teacher plays a vital role in bringing “The Serra Way” to life in the preschool classroom each day. This educator will collaborate closely with a co-teacher to create a warm, engaging, and developmentally rich environment for preschool-aged children. The ideal candidate is an experienced, consistent, and loving teacher who understands the preschool child’s mind, delights in play-based learning, and approaches each child as a unique individual created by God. This role requires a commitment to TSP’s Catholic identity, strong relationship-building skills with families and colleagues, and a deep understanding of early childhood education.

• Mission-Aligned Instruction
  Implement developmentally appropriate play-based curriculum. Model spiritual framework in age-appropriate ways.

• Classroom Teaching and Child Development
  Create a nurturing, structured, and joyful classroom environment where preschoolers feel secure, loved, and inspired to explore. Plan and facilitate play-based learning that supports early literacy, numeracy, creativity, social-emotional development, and problem-solving. Observe, document, and support each child’s developmental progress across emotional, social, cognitive, and physical domains. Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment that meets licensing standards and reflects TSP’s mission and values.

• Partnership with Families
  Build trusting, respectful relationships with parents and caregivers. Communicate thoughtfully and consistently about each child’s experiences, developmental growth, and emerging needs.

• Collaboration and Team Teaching
  Work closely with a co-teacher to ensure a cohesive classroom culture grounded in shared expectations and mission alignment.

• Community Engagement
  Contribute to an inclusive and welcoming school community that reflects TSP’s spiritual and educational mission. Participate in occasional school events and community gatherings as appropriate for faculty.

• A 4-year degree (BA/BS) in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (preferred) OR at least 12 ECE/CD units and 6+ months of classroom experience required.

• Understanding of play-based, developmentally appropriate practice.

• Demonstrated commitment to Catholic education and values and the mission of TSP.

• Experience with preschool-aged children highly preferred.
