Position: Preschool Teacher
Location: San Francisco, CA
Reports To: Preschool Director
F/T Salary Range: $35K-75K
P/T Hourly Wage: $25-$45
Position Summary
The Preschool Teacher plays a vital role in bringing “The Serra Way” to life in the preschool classroom each day. This educator will collaborate closely with a co-teacher to create a warm, engaging, and developmentally rich environment for preschool-aged children. The ideal candidate is an experienced, consistent, and loving teacher who understands the preschool child’s mind, delights in play-based learning, and approaches each child as a unique individual created by God. This role requires a commitment to TSP’s Catholic identity, strong relationship-building skills with families and colleagues, and a deep understanding of early childhood education.
Mission-Aligned Instruction
Implement developmentally appropriate play-based curriculum. Model spiritual framework in age-appropriate ways.Classroom Teaching and Child Development
Create a nurturing, structured, and joyful classroom environment where preschoolers feel secure, loved, and inspired to explore. Plan and facilitate play-based learning that supports early literacy, numeracy, creativity, social-emotional development, and problem-solving. Observe, document, and support each child’s developmental progress across emotional, social, cognitive, and physical domains. Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment that meets licensing standards and reflects TSP’s mission and values.Partnership with Families
Build trusting, respectful relationships with parents and caregivers. Communicate thoughtfully and consistently about each child’s experiences, developmental growth, and emerging needs.Collaboration and Team Teaching
Work closely with a co-teacher to ensure a cohesive classroom culture grounded in shared expectations and mission alignment.Community Engagement
Contribute to an inclusive and welcoming school community that reflects TSP’s spiritual and educational mission. Participate in occasional school events and community gatherings as appropriate for faculty.
A 4-year degree (BA/BS) in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (preferred) OR at least 12 ECE/CD units and 6+ months of classroom experience required.
Understanding of play-based, developmentally appropriate practice.
Demonstrated commitment to Catholic education and values and the mission of TSP.
Experience with preschool-aged children highly preferred.
