Wheeler & Gray is seeking a Civil Engineer with five to ten years of design experience. Registration as a Civil Engineer is desired, but not required. The successful candidate will be responsible for design and preparation of construction documents for various types of Civil engineering projects, including storm drains, site grading, drainage and storm water mitigation, utility design and roadway improvements. The candidate must be knowledgeable in various agency requirements and procedures, the California Building Code, Americans with Disability Act and MS4 permit requirements. The candidate must have experience working closely with clients.
The successful candidate will prepare and direct the preparation of drawings, specifications, construction cost estimates, studies, reports for various types and sizes of projects, such as storm drains, roads and streets, sanitary sewers, potable water transmission and distribution pipelines, grading, paving, site development and other public works systems. The successful candidate will supervise and direct one or more staff members. The candidate will perform field observations, attend project meetings, and coordinate multi-discipline projects.
The candidate will be responsible for following:
Street/road design
Hydrology/hydraulics for storm drainage
Storm water management design/ Low Impact Development
Domestic Water System Design
Grading and Site design
Experience with State storm water discharge permit for non-traditional MS4s
Experience with State Construction General Permit for storm water discharges
Supervision and direction of subordinates
Client contact and communications
Working knowledge of Civil 3D and AutoCAD
Proficiency with general office software, such as spread sheet and word processing applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
4 year degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
Certificate of Engineer in Training or licensure as a Civil Engineer in California
Candidate may have significant progress towards licensure as a Civil Engineer
