Job Summary
The Faculty Support Coordinator provides administrative support to the Online Dean, Associate Dean, Chairs, and online faculty members in matters related to online education. The Faculty Support Coordinator communicates with online faculty through weekly announcements, assists in course assignments, coordinates curriculum development, coordinates online faculty hires, and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include:

  • Support faculty through weekly announcements and by answering questions
  • Gather and compile course assignment availability and coordinates assignments in consultation with department leadership
  • Maintain faculty records and hierarchies in various systems
  • Coordinate hiring and onboarding of online faculty
  • Maintains communication with IMs & SMEs to ensure coordination and implementation of LUO policies and procedures
  • Coordinates training of online faculty and maintains current training materials and online faculty Canvas community resources
  • Coordinate curriculum development of new courses and maintaining existing courses and supporting faculty Subject Matter Experts
  • Assists in accreditation matters
  • Research and compile data.
  • Tracks enrollment in course sections, projects future needs
  • Write reports for audiences as appropriate to the needs of the audience.
  • Interpret administrative and operating policies and procedures for employees.
  • File and maintain records.
  • Perform administrative support tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Tier I:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of administrative experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Possess strong organizational skills
  • Able to solve problems of both a routine or a complex nature
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (i.e., Canvas)
  • Able to work in a fast-paced work environment, with a strong ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent interviewing skills
  • Work well independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Customer service experience
  • Interviewing experience
  • Strong Technical Competency
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint, etc.
  • Superior ability to prioritize tasks
  • Intermediate knowledge of Learning Management Systems (i.e., Canvas)

Tier 2:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of field, faculty, or administrative support experience within University Academics, Financial Services, or Enrollment Offices
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Positive influence on office moral and culture.
  • Must be an LU-approved Driver.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Customer service experience
  • Management experience
  • Interviewing experience
  • Strong Technical Competency
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint, etc.

  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.  (If not administrative duties, such as labor, define general physical abilities.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting.  It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate.

Driving Requirements

Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position.  Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
