Gift OfficerChildren's HopeChest
The Gifts Officer builds and nurtures relationships with donors giving between $1,000 and $4,999 annually, with a focus on increasing retention, growing gift size, and developing the pipeline for major gifts. This role requires both relational and entrepreneurial skills to thrive within HopeChest’s unique donor development model. In addition to managing a portfolio, the Gifts Officer contributes to broader development initiatives that strengthen Children’s HopeChest’s overall fundraising capacity.
We're looking for someone with 5-15 years of experience as a Gift Officer to join our development team. In this role, you'll be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing major gifts from individual donors to support our mission. You'll build meaningful relationships with prospective donors while managing a robust pipeline of opportunities. This position requires regular travel to meet with donors and represent our organization at events and gatherings.
Portfolio Management (60%)
Manage a portfolio of 300 mid-level prospects, qualifying major donor prospects
Execute personalized cultivation and stewardship strategies
Conduct 12+ meaningful donor contacts weekly
Achieve annual retention rate of 75%+ and portfolio growth of 20%+
Identify and qualify major gift prospects
Domestic travel to meet with donors
Plan and attend regional domestic events (usually in concert with domestic donor meetings)
Plan and attend international donor vision trips (1-2 per year initially, growing to 4 per year within 3 years)

Development Strategy (40%)
Design and manage regional donor events
Manage and grow the HopeChest Ambassadors Program (P2P fundraisers)
Create donor proposals and value propositions
Support donor acquisition initiatives
Build regional networks for prospect development
Collaborate with church partnership program
Contribute to team strategy and reporting
Cultivate and steward relationships with a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors through personalized engagement strategies Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans in collaboration with leadership to meet annual revenue goals Coordinate donor recognition activities and maintain accurate records of all interactions and gift commitments
Demonstrated ability to build authentic relationships and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Commitment to ethical fundraising practices and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive donor information

Desired Qualifications
Experience working with international organizations
Experience traveling internationally for business and/or missions
Successful experience and track record in non-profit fundraising
Experience calling, meeting with, and cultivating current and potential donors
- Bachelor's Degree
- Fundraising or relevant relationship management experience (3+ years)
- Demonstrated success in donor cultivation and solicitation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
- Proficiency with CRM systems and wealth screening tools
- Ability to travel up to 25%, domestically and internationally
- Experience with mid-level or major gifts programs
- Knowledge of donor motivation and lifecycle management
- Event planning and execution experience
- Nonprofit or faith-based organization background
