Children’s Health Defense (CHD) is a litigation advocacy organization dedicated to protecting child health and ending the epidemic of children’s chronic health conditions by eliminating harmful environmental exposures, holding big industry accountable, and establishing safeguards for a safer environment for our children. We educate the public about harmful environmental exposures and nurture a culture of leadership in communities. Our programs and resources cultivate science literacy and build a foundation of collaborative problem-solving among the next generation of leaders, scientists, physicians, citizens, and stewards. Working both nationally and internationally, our collaborative approach engages local communities, governments, the private sector, and civil society.
Department Overview:
The Marketing Department is responsible for CHD’s promotion of the organization via the creation and execution of a diverse marketing approach that includes collateral materials and using CHD assets such as social media, CHDTV, the Defender, email, video streaming platforms and other digital and traditional methods of advertising.
Job Overview
The Digital Content Creator is a mission-critical role focused on CHD’s EMR (Electro Magnetic Radiation) and wireless initiatives, including campaigns such as Stop5GNearMe and 704NoMore.
This position translates complex scientific research, policy developments, and advocacy efforts into clear, engaging, and shareable content across social platforms.
Content Creation & Video Editing
Transform long-form content (interviews, expert discussions, CHD.TV segments, scientific briefings) into high-performing, story-driven short-form video content
Create original EMR-focused content, including explainers, breaking news clips, and advocacy-driven storytelling
Translate complex EMR science, policy, and technology topics into clear, engaging, layman-friendly narratives
Optimize content for platform-specific performance (X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube)
Add captions, branding, and light graphics to ensure accessibility and visual consistency
Science Translation & Storytelling
Review articles, policy updates, and educational materials from the EMR team
Distill complex findings into:
Social media posts
Video scripts
Educational threads and explainers
Ensure all content maintains accuracy while maximizing clarity and engagement
Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to validate messaging
Social Media Management & Growth
Plan, schedule, and publish content across key platforms
Develop audience engagement strategies by monitoring comments, replies, and messages; moderate as needed and flag notable feedback or issues to leadership while engaging consistently to support audience growth and interaction
Track performance metrics and optimize content strategy based on data
Community Engagement & Advocacy
Support grassroots digital organizing efforts by:
Promoting petitions, campaigns, and calls-to-action
Amplifying local and national advocacy efforts
Identify and engage with influencers, advocates, and partner organizations
Assist in coordinating digital campaigns tied to legislation, local activism, and awareness efforts
Support live events, Q&As, and community discussions
Advertising & Promotion
Assist in executing targeted campaigns (e.g., geo-targeted ads for local tower installations)
Track performance and recommend optimizations
Trend Monitoring & Rapid Response
Stay current on:
EMR / wireless developments
Technology policy news
Platform trends and algorithm shifts
Produce rapid-turn content in response to breaking developments
Collaboration & Operations
Work closely with the Director of EMR, Director of Marketing, Social Media Manager and the Social Media Team
Compile social media starts and relevant narrative for monthly board reports
Attend cross-functional meetings to stay aligned on priorities
Attend meetings and events as required
Respond to calls, emails and text communications in a timely manner
All other duties as assigned
2–5 years of experience in social media, digital content, or media production
Strong science literacy required (background in science, public health, environmental health, or related field preferred)
Proven ability to translate complex technical or scientific information into clear, accessible content
Advanced video editing skills (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent)
Ability to identify and elevate key moments in long-form video and audio content and tell the story through short-form content
Strong writing skills and editorial judgement, including social media hooks, captions, and headlines
Deep understanding of social media platforms and content performance strategies
Experience working in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong editorial judgment and storytelling ability
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Alignment with CHD’s mission and understanding of EMR/wireless issues
Knowledge and understanding of the health freedom movement
Have a personal interest in, and understanding of issues surrounding CHD’s mission, including EMR & Wireless issues
5+ years of experience in administrative tasks
Attention to detail and the ability to multitask, and take initiative
Great interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work with a diverse group of people
DESIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Public Health, Communications, or related field
Experience with advocacy campaigns or grassroots organizing
Familiarity with EMR, 5G, wireless infrastructure, and environmental health topics
Experience managing high-volume or rapid-response content
Knowledge of SEO and digital content strategy
Experience with paid social or geo-targeted campaigns
